*You have innocent civilians dying wholesale because of war.
*The economy is going down the tubes
*Polititians are selling out the very people who voted them into office.
*Children are being gunned down in the streets
*Manufacturing jobs are being lost by the thousands
*Unemployment is rising and the Government is shipping billions of taxpayer's money oversea's

And, What is the top story of the last couple days ............ T.O.

Man, I just can't believe this crap!!!!!!!!!!

No wonder this world is soo screwed-up.

What's sad about it is the media responds to what sells newspapers and catches eyeballs on TV, so apparently this is the news that is important to people.

Wall Street closed yesterday only 4 pts from a record high. So the economy isn't doing all that bad.

Manufacturing jobs are being lost because of the shift from an industry based economy to a service based economy. The loss of manufacturing jobs is an unfortunate, but necessary evil. My family has been in the logging and sawmilling business for decades, but it just isn't viable anymore. My Dad sold his business and got a water-operator's license and is adjusting. Anyone who is depending on manufacturing to support a family are headed for rough times. It's unavoidable.

The reason that you see so much about T.O. is because he's watercooler gossip. People are tired of watching the violence in the middle east. People are tired of watching the depressing things that you're talking about. People would much rather hear about a cocky professional athlete who took a dive off the deep end and took a bunch of pills.

Lets see...

The Senate passed the "Detainee" Act yesterday, therefore legislating torture, and Fascist "dissapearings" of anybody branded a "terrorist". It sets up Military Tribunals which essentialy creates an underground layer of the judicial system.

Whats on the front cover today?

Some bitch putting a "roadside" burial flower thingie for some people who crashed their car and died.

But this comes as no suprise, we foreigners have been mocking the US News Media for decades now.

And God Bless America and the Internet.

As the world develops and it is only natural for the super-powers to hand of the physical labor jobs to less developed countries to become country full of white collar jobs. This hand off has been going on for a very long time, think about it. Lets take for instance feudal England, during the dark ages, when every "province" under a king was a small country. Would the king or nobility be down with the peasants in the barn working, no they would delegate it out and they in tern would provide "services" such as protection(even though sometimes that wasn’t the case because of corruption). It comes down to the powerful wanting physical labor done for them, and in tern the provide services. Sucks, but that is how the world turns.

And as for T.O.......Personally I could care less, I try not to watch main stream media, however people do need a break from all the violence and war. BUT that breaks down into the fact that the media cannot even out information, Such ad the good/stupid with the bad. For them it is all BAD, or it is all STUPID information.
My opinion

Some bitch huh? Real sympathetic.

I'm not sure if many foreign people know this.. but... Typical Joe American doesn't give a damn how much you poke fun at the US Media. Unless it's election time, there isn't much political interest. Mock that as much as you wish.. most Americans honestly don't care about the foreign opinion.

Thank you for entirely missing the point Buck.

I cant tell if you got offended by my remark, of if your anger of the situation reflects in your post. I think its sad actually, that the majority of the people dont care about their politics in this country.

Great observation Copernicus!! I think its this attitude in particular that fosters hatred for this country all over the world.

Default Calm down...

There is a hint of frustration there, because everyone always worries about what everyone else is doing. That irritates me. Not a personal attack on your Lor by any means... just general frustration.

You might think it's sad, but that's honestly the situation. People are generally annoyed by politics. This is most evidenced by the fact that we don't have a 95% turnout at voting polls. If only a little over half of the country even votes... there isn't a whole lot of political interest.

"Great observation Copernicus!! I think its this attitude in particular that fosters hatred for this country all over the world."

It's unfortunate that this attitude fuels hatred. That foreign hatred then fuels American hatred and it just escalates. IMO, ALL people need to worry about themselves first and then once all their problems at home are cleaned up... then they might want to worry about foreign opinion.

I have to agree that most people are not interested. If they were, business in Washington and Harrisburg would be conducted differently. America tries to appease everyone. Wedid everything to stay out of WWII. Japan bombs us, we kick their asses move out and rebuild their country. We do this everywhere. We pay 23% of the bills at the UN, 1 country of 190. The world doesn't think we do enough. If we joined the Kyoto treaty, we would have the largest number of restrictions of any member of the treaty. We get one vote. We should only pay for one vote. The other countries that have the hatred for us should think about the fact that we have either saved them from being destroyed, paid to rebuild them after war, or are building their country now. Many fall under more than one of these catagories. I think we should cancell aid to all countries till they start to respect and appriciate us. It is like welfare complaining we do too little. Take it away and they will realize how much we ARE doing.Just my two cent.

Great Post!!!

I think that's the whole thing in a nutshell. People would rather the media focus on B.S. while at the same time pulling the wool over their eyes to the realities of world events & politics. That's the main reason the politicians get away with soo much crap. The people are worrying about sports, the mall, cell phones and common B.S. while at the same time, the commander in chief & his cronies can get away with starting a war based on lies. They can do whatever they want, because the people of this country are scared to death over the realities that surround these united states. Not, realizing that their lack of interest in how the politicians run this country has caused most of the problems the country is now facing.

Case in point:

The US went in IRAQ to secure the second largest oil reserves in the world.
The US went in IRAQ to prevent Saddam from moving to the euro standard for oil exchange.

**NOTE** Every president of the US since Johnson has had a standing rule that they will take this country to war in order to protect its energy interest.

Let's take it a little further:

Many so-called terrorist hate the US purely because of their foreign policies, they don't give a damn about your so-called freedoms. Look at all the corrupt dictators abroad who have been sponsored & backed militarily by the US.
All the terrorist are now pouring out of the same countries that formerly had oppressive regimes sponsored by the US.

So, let's cut the crap. While the people and media are focusing on T.O. and his B.S. the politicians are systematically relieving you of your constitutional rights. And fostering wars that feed the greed of multi-national companies.

The people of these United States have become complacent, passive and terrorized. And they have no one to blame, but themselves, because they tolerate the foolishness that is common in today's politics. And accept it without ever putting up a fight. So, don't some of you mumble a fockin word when you right to carry & bear arms are curtailed. Your inactivity, and uncaring behavior in how your elected officials run this country is bringing about all the fears that you now and in the immediate future will have.

And the absolute worst part of this whole mess is that your & my children will pay a heavy price, because we as voting citizens were preoccupied with, ice cream, botox, getting laid, hollywood and other BS. While at the same time this country is accelerating its course straight to hell.

The enemies created throughout the world that this countries made and continues to make via its foreign policies are growing exponentially. And one day will make us regret, our inactivity in US policies & politics.
