This would be ok as long as no one has the same name as someone else.
But if 2 people or more have the same name and one or more has a criminal record or whatever, troubles can start. Getting those problems corrected can be a hazzle. The SSN identifies that particular person. It says right on the SS card that it's not to be used as an I.D. But that is not how it evolved. |

You'd think that your PA drivers License # should be enough anyway!
The State Police could just as well maintain their "illegal" database with PA Drivers license #'s. The reason they want SS# is so that they can cross-reference with a national database and can impress the BATF with info when called upon. Wanting SS# was probably a prelude to a national registry as some want.

I thought the section for our SSN was listed as (optional) on purchasing forms. Am I mistaken?
