Angry Philly closes down 77 year-old range

I just wanted to inform you that the City of Philadelphia has ended a 77-year lease and ordered a gun range to be closed by December 31.

Jesus. I wonder what the motivation for this was? Is this anti-gun politics, or is it more along the lines of valuable land or a better offer from a corporation?

Anti-gunners; with the state (thankfully) protecting us here in Devilcrat controlled Philadelphia, this is the only way they can get to us. Our two neighbors are a prison and the police academy; not exactly prime realestate.

Well, one thing to be learned from this is that a range adopting anti-gun policies (CCW ban on premises), and embracing a country club image (only rd in the gun at once) so as to project the persona "we're not about RKBA and self defense, so please don't close us down" -- doesn't really work. Anti-gun politicians are not appeased.

What a shame I grew up in Holmesburg, shot my first 22 there when I was in the boy scouts in 1962.

There are three possible city council men who might be sympathetic to our cause. If anybody is from the area, please write the following:

Councilman Jack Kelly
City Hall, Room 594
Philadelphia, PA 19107-3290

Councilman Frank Rizzo
City Hall, Room 552
Philadelphia, PA 19107-3290

Councilman Juan Ramos
City Hall, Room 590
Philadelphia, PA 19107-3290

Remember, these men might be sympathetic to our cause! Please don't take your emotions out on them; we need them to be on our side!

I remember my best friends father who was a member back in the early 90's used to take us to shoot on Sunday's due to know one would be there, what a great range it is and a shame. I hope all the members and friends get together and stick it to the city. I would try and put it all the newspapers how the city who has gun problems and gun crimes shuts down a honorable and educated club that teaches safety and proper gun handling and education. That's propably why the city has a high gun crimes.

That's a real outrage. And yet the anti-gun people tell us they have no beef with responsible legal gun ownership.

What would be nice, is if they could get the state to start muttering about using eminent domain to take the land from the city and give it to the club. No lease. Maybe then the city would back down.
