I've got the XD 9 4" model, I looooooove it. I looked at the Glock 19, but the safety features (1911 style grip safety) and the overall package with the hard case etc. made it an easy choice. You can also tell what the weapon's status is just by looking at it thanks to the loaded chamber indicator and stiker status indicator.

Don't get me wrong, I love my XD, but I keep reading about people that love the safeties. I really don't see how the safeties make the gun extra safe.

First off the gun is drop safe, that is what is most important to me.

However if you have a hand on the grip, that safety is defeated, and if something (finger or twig) gets into the trigger, that safety is defeated.

I'm not going to preach "the only safety you need is between your ears", we all know that.

Any gun, as long as it is drop safe, and has a holster that covers the trigger, is as safe as the person that carries it.

Safeties are just one more thing that can malfunction when the gun is really needed.

But I still love my XD, much for the same reasons. It's basically like it has no safeties.

Go to Wal-Mart and buy all the Winchester White Box 9 mm they have. I usually can't find a deal on a 1000 rounds that is as cheap as buying it off of Wal-mart a box at a time.

Walmart is about $165/1000. You can get bulk 9mm shipped to you for less. Another glock advantage, you can feed it the cheapest crap you can find.

I have an FNP-9 and it is HUGE. No chance for concealment.

It has me thinking of trading it in on a Glock 26 or a small 5-shot bobbed taurus revolver.

Those would be my two recommendations for CCW.
