If you use the search option and type in Reputation, you will see this has been talked about here http://www.pafoa.org/forum/support-s...51-rating.html

Your rep power is 0 when you start, then gradually goes up. You can gain reputation when other memers thing you have a good post and hit the scale on your post, the values can be positive or negative. The person rating you can give you as many poings as their rep power is. It also goes up as you post more and more.

Most positive posters are on a distinguished road, a few are even soon to be famous!

JayBell has 2 little squares, this means he has many reputation power points.
The rest of us mainly just have one... Mind you our reputation is not worst for the cause, just we have less rep points!

All in all, there are people who couldnt care less about the points, mainly because if you have a little group of friends who regularly give you a good rep you could technically have many rep points and only have a few posts.
There are people who will hand out negative rep points, DanP already stated that if you feel you had negative rep points handed out to you he would remove them.

Getting rep points from an admin will get you up there faster, they can hand them out in larger ammounts.
To see who the members are with higher rep points, go to the members area on the top of your page, (Members List) then reverse the rep value so the top rep points are on top.
