Default My black rifle really is evil!

WOW! I just got back from camp in Elk County, and we had a blast! I took my M4 style AR15, PT1911 and Raging Bull .44 with us. The first shooting trip was about a 1 mile hike to an old beaver pond. It was a cool scene...old dead gray trees, stagnant water and muddy banks. I wish I had my camera, but forgot to bring it. Broke out the Bushmaster and emptied out 2 mags. Man, that thing really rocked! I was shooting at a dead tree in the middle of the pond for the most part, but I did rapid fire about 15 rounds for the kids! It ate up some .223 WWB and Wolf without a single problem. The kids loved it...ear to ear smiles! (My cheeks were pretty sore from smiling, also!) I also got to get real intimate with the AR after a 2 mile round trip hike with it slung on my back in humid 85 deg weather! It really is a fun gun to shoot though!

Next was a hike to the camp road dump for .44 and .45 plinking. We set up a bunch of cans, bottles, sandstone rocks, and old TV and a abandoned Sears riding mower! I the accuracy of both guns was magnificent right outta the boxes! I could blast cans and rocks at 30 feet with no problem. I did notice the sights a little off at longer shots (75 feet?) but still able to nail the target easily. Everything went good there until we shot up an old kitchen stove and discovered a bee's nest! We decided to split before they swarmed...nobody got stung.

Back at camp, we broke out the .22's and plinked at the camp range and hunted squirrels (no bounties paid out this time...) My buddy let me take a few cracks with his new .17 HMR...nice rifle, I am gonna have to pick one up! All in all, it was a great family weekend camping trip, lots of safe shooting and plenty of good cooking! Now I gotta clean my guns before the West PA Shoot!

Sounds like a great time spent with the kids. That's the kind of trip I would like to do, camping hiking and shooting can't ask for more.

I brought mine to the public range yesterday.

I guess it was childrens day, and as I walked by one of the little kid's goes "he brought a machine gun." Kids need guns other than .22s so they can learn.

LOL, yeah...on the hike to the pond, we encountered a kid on a mini dirt bike. He stops to say hello and spots the AR on my back...

Kid: "Is that a real gun?"
Me: "It sure is."
Kid: "Oh, its an army machine gun!"
Me: "Uh, no...its a semi automatic sporting rifle!"
Kid: 'Oh, ok...bye."

I invited him to come watch but he was to busy riding dirt bikes to watch!

How do you like your Taurus 1911? I've had one now for awhile, it's by far my favorite pistol that I own, and my favorite handgun to shoot.

I love the PT1911! It's the smoothest, hardest hitting semi auto I have ever shot! I'm saving my pennies now for when the stainless version comes out!
