Default Texas Security

I’m on vacation in Dallas TX, and visited the Book Depository Building and the Kennedy Memorial yesterday. They restrict weapons and have metal detectors that everyone must pass through.

I was wheeling my son in his wheelchair when I saw the sign, looked at my wife and she knew I was going to the truck to disarm. Security saw the chair and took us on through, “Don’t mind the beeping, keep coming”.

Same thing for several other Landmarks and Hotels.

So much for security in Texas.

Please check out the Texas carry laws. Any place that has a 30.06 sign is restricted, which includes private businesses. It's against the law if they have the sign, unlike the signs in PA that have no weight. (I might be confusing 30.06 for 30.05, texas off limits laws are a bit confusing).

I'm from and live in Texas, and you're right, it's the 30.06 sign. If you carry when one of those signs is around, you can be prosecuted, and in something like the Kennedy memorial, you will be if they catch you. We are working on changing about where we can carry (lose some of the restrictions) and also working on open carry (as it is not legal), but in the mean time, be careful.

They have metal detectors at the Book Depository Building? Talk about closing the barn door after the horse got out
