Default LTCF reference questions?

Hey, could someone tell me what they ask the references you fill in on your LTCF application? (I'm in Chester county if that matters) It said somewhere they contact them the first time you apply and won't issue until they have heard back, and I want to give my references a heads up on what they will be asked. (I also want to make sure I ask the right people)
Thanks!

I am in Chester County and I've never had my references contacted to my knowledge. I was also listed as a reference for someone Chesco and they did not contact me. I was a reference for a friend in Delco and they called and asked how long I had known the person and if they did any drugs. If they do contact your references I wouldn't expect an interview, just a few questions.

My wife recently applied for a LTCF here in Perry Co. Both her references were contacted by the sheriff.

The Butler County Sheriff asked the following questions:
  • "How long have you known [JavaProgrammer]?"
  • "To your knowledge, does he have a drug or drinking problem?"
  • "Do you feel he is responsible enough to carry a firearm?"
  • "This permit will allow him to use the firearm in self defense. Do you have a problem with that?"

Keep in mind that different sheriffs will probably ask different questions and some may not even call the references.

Who would use references that might have any chance of saying something negative about them????

Choose wisely and ask the reference if it's OK before listing someone.

Can he ask those 2? I thought the application had to be kept private?

ok thanks a lot. i had heard that they actually mailed forms out to your references (which would also take forever). doesn't appear to be a problem for most though. I was also told that they SHOULD be a Chester county resident, will there be a problem if they aren't?

I never thought of that.

The sheriff that issued my LTCF won't be in office for much longer. Butler county just elected Mike Slupe earlier this month. Sheriff-elect Slupe was endorsed by FOAC, so I don't expect too many problems with him.

None of my references were contacted by Chester Cty (initial application) nor was I contacted for several other initial applications on which I was a reference.
