Israelis Baffled by News of Defenseless US Soldiers

Many Israelis want to know: why didn't the soldiers attacked by a U.S. Army major-turned-terrorist return fire?

When a Muslim goes, well, Muslim in Israel he is typically shot to death by someone--say, a reserve soldier--within seconds of screaming "Allah Akbar."

In contrast with the Israeli experience, it took 10 minutes before a civilian police officer at Fort Hood was able to shoot and stop Muslim fanatic Nidal Malik Hasan.

How could that happen? How could so many people trained in the strategies and tactics of modern warfare be so defenseless?

The answer--and this may astonish many Americans--is that the victims were unarmed. U.S. soldiers are not allowed to carry guns for personal protection, even on a 340-acre base quartering more than 50,000 troops.

So it goes in brain-dead, liberal America.

Contrary to President Obama's crocodile tears, his Islamist-appeasing administration is bent on further disarming the U.S. military, and all Americans. Obama and his Communist crowd will not rest until every American is a sitting duck.


POSTSCRIPT: Israeli teachers, from kindergarten on up, are also armed; so, a Virginia Tech-type slaughter is highly unlikely at an Israeli university.

Israelis, who have had to combat terrorism all their lives, are not afraid of guns. They are an armed people, ready, willing, and able to defend themselves and their country.

Unlike indoctrinated Americans, paralyzed by fear and political correctness, Israelis understand that people, not guns, kill people.

American Jews, for the most part, are nothing like their Israeli co-religionists. American Jews--as this American Jewish journalist well knows--are disproportionately liberal and anti-gun. This is especially true of elitist, intellectual/professional Jews in Manhattan and the New York suburbs. They pride themselves in their masochistic, near-suicidal "tolerance" of Jew-haters and violent criminals.

The lessons of the Holocaust are lost on these Jews. They relish victimhood. Proud, tough Jews and proud, patriotic Americans make liberal Jews--and liberals in general--nervous.

Don't worry Obama has a new plan for our troops. No more weapons, they will smile show his picture and have an open dialect with the enemy troops.

i wish our troops had the right to bear arms...got lil cousins in the corp right now and feel worried about em...except one thats in cuba, aparently all the terrorists got sent to NY....ah, still worry bout him too

i still don't understand the no gun policy, i could at least grasp at the thought of at least a few soldiers allowed to carry, but none?
Also i like what the swiss do, not the mandatory service per say but keep your rifle and equipment. makes sense if you ask me.
Israel does have a good understanding of guns, too bad most of the US doesn't.

Israel is pretty cool, lots of open carry going on there, and it is not at all seen as abnormal. Of course only Israeli citizens can do it, and when all Israeli kids reach 18 they have to do military service. I also understand that there is almost no crime there, at least violent crimes and burglaries. The only crime they really have going on are acts of terrorists- the ones who slip through and aren't shot down before they can detonate their suicide bomber vests.

It's really not confusing at all. It's just the attitude of the U.S. military leadership and it has been for a very long time. The troops are not to be trusted. Between accidents and fights they'll end up shooting the s*&t out of each other.

Ask anyone who's been in any branch of service about the shake downs they go through after leaving the qualification range (and not just during Basic).

It's been this way for a LONG time, it's nothing new. Israel is under constant attack by small groups and lone persons of the ENEMY. This has generally not been the case in the US. Throw in the horrible anti-gun attitude by the federal government in this country, and there you have it. Control is more important than the safety of military personnel. Readiness to combat the enemy has heretofore successfully been maintained without concern for some lives here or there.
