    Sorry to keep bumping this...

The August issue of American Rifleman gives us some stats on the Velocity and Energy of the shot shells.

    I am transcribing this.

    LOAD---------------------------------VELOCITY@12'--Energy@12'
    Win AA Sporting Clays(No.8)--------------832fps-----338ft.lbs.
    Win Super-X(No. 7 1/2)--------------------760fps-----282ft.lbs.
    Remington(No.6)----------------------------792fps-----306ft.lbs.
    Federal(No.6)--------------------------------712fps-----248ft.lbs.
    Win Super-X(No.4)--------------------------779fps-----297ft.lbs.
    Rexio Buckshot(00,4 pellets)--------------738fps-----266ft.lbs.
    Win Buckshot(000,3 pellets)--------------777fps-----295ft.lbs.
    Federal Rifled Slug(1/4oz)-----------------1125fps---318ft.lbs.

There's also some data on .45 Colt rounds, if anyone is interested, I will transcribe it as well.

Can someone tell me what all of this means? I understand what it's saying but don't know if it's good results or not. Any input is appreciated.

    Thanks

Somewhat off topic, but you going to the shoot this month THC?

That's allot better than I expected.

I think gelatin testing would have to be conducted before terminal performance could be extrapolated.

The Judge is supprisingly manageable, .410 has a little punch, but the 45 colt feels like nothing when it goes off. From my opinion after shooting one, effective distance 10'. At 21 feet the pattern is huge. I wouldnt want to get shot by one, but i would question its stopping power.

    5 shots #9 shot

    5 shots #6 shot

All shots made at 10-15 feet. There is one slug in the first picture, made two holes.

For snakes or a gimmick gun sure , but I thought it was irresponsible of taurus to market this as a home defense gun , with 410 shot shells it might be wise to put it in the guys ear , with 45 colt loads there are alot better guns for that caliber that are easier to handle

I totally agree, when I first saw this I was thinking to myself wow, now that is going to have a place in my center consol, then you take a look at the ballistics and it just doesnt have them.. in all fairness though american rifleman, and self defense TV both did a few spots on the gun, and made it out to be wonderful for defense also, so I wonder if the padding in their pockets didnt get a little better after those reviews aired
