I have two. I found a used post ban one in a shop years ago. I took that one home. Then I went back to the shop about a week later. He had a pre-ban with to high cap mags. Took that one home also.
They are a tank. I added some houge grips to mine.

First 10 shot group at 10yds or so. Federal 115gr FMJ
DA shot went off of center as you can clearly see, but following SA 9shots are dead center! ![]() Not bad for $200 beater isn't it?! Its easy to shoot, DA trigger, though long, very smooth. I like this weapon ALOT! Did notice little issue too tho. This piece on right side kept backing out. Its held in place by grip panel, so its not going to come off, but odd regardless.. ![]() Oh, and I also do not care for the trigger reset - It clicks twice before trigger resets.

My first pistol was a P-94. I wish I still had it. Great find.

My dad has a P85 that was built in 87. It's got a very low serial number; below 200, I believe. After 22 years and tens of thousands of rounds down the barrel it still shoots like it did when he bought it. Like every other Ruger of its day it's built like a tank.
You'll get many more years out of the one you just got.

Oh I hope I get many more years out of it.
To be honest, I bought it thinking once I clean it up, sell it to friend of mine for profit. Side track here for a bit, few years ago, I was gonna buy one of these in .45ACP(I think it was called KP90?), and once i picked it up in my hand, I was dissapointed with how sloppy lose fit and finish was, and I was also not sold on the whole investiment casting Idea. So I chose not to get it, eventho it was pretty good price - Around $250 or so if I remenber right. But this perticuler P-85 is tight(enough I guess), and I now know that Investiement Casting is NOT same as Metal Injection Mold In any case, I'm keeping it. Infact, I just spent all evening carrying it. I'm gonna invest in more magazine, and better sight(white dot is pretty much all rubbed off). May be re-spring it, since who knows how many rounds has it fired in the past. I may even get a holster for it too..
