Damn.
It seems that the "ten more participants each month" trend may hold true if we get about five more people! ![]() (We had THIRTY EIGHT shooters at the July shoot!) ![]() If we continue at this pace, we'll be hoisting the PAFOA flag over the club house and changing the name on the sign at the entrance!

I will probably join...but it is about 1 hour drive down bust Rt 30 for me...not bad for once a month shoots, but it will be hard to go to meetings and free time shooting. I know that joining alone will cover the monthly group shoot fees and I probably will, but I'd like to be an active member!

I think EM already offered and maybe even BT did too, but I will also say that if anyone wants a tour of the PMSC facilities, I will be more than happy to take you around. |

I've said this before...
PAFOA may have started in Philly, but it's lookin' like Dan's gonna have to move the headquarters to the Burgh! (Dan, I'll clear out a corner in my basement for you. )A little Group Shoot history for the noobs... OK boys and girls, a long time ago, ('bout 7 months ago? My apologies if the timeline is off - my memory sucks) I thought it would be cool to try and meet up with a few forum members who had shown interest in joining a local club or just going shooting in general. I invited four people. TheHighChild was the only one who could make it, so it was just the two of us. (I just saw a parallel to Adam and Eve there, but after bashing my face into the wall, I'm good!) I met my first forum member that day and discovered that you CAN meet someone online, meet up in person and not be murdered. LOL! At about the same time THC had posted a thread "Pittsburgh folk unite for FOOD!!" http://www.pafoa.org/forum/allegheny...-a-page-2.html I just now started looking at some of the early posts there and it's funny... After getting together for a shoot is mentioned, TonyF said "Trying to organize a range event would probably get too complicated." then at post #18 I mention having met THC and when I welcomed everyone to come to PMSC as guests, the next post was from Lycanthrope. "LET'S DO IT!" Things continued to progress from there. Our very first "official" gathering consisted of 10-12 PAFOA members. Someone asked if we were going to "do this every month"... I thought, "we could try, but I don't know if people would want to meet on a monthly basis, maybe every other month?" Fast forward to the following month. Roughly 20 members in attendance. "WOW! This is GREAT!" I couldn't believe how many people came out to shoot that day... If I'm not mistaken, THAT was the only shoot where it R-A-I-N-E-D.(Shhh! Don't say it out loud!) It was wet and COLD! We still had a blast. Again, the NEXT month (and I couldn't believe the continued interest) we had about 30 shooters. At each shoot, and as new members came on board, it evolved from shooting paper targets, to a few steel plates added to the mix as well as the famous FOOD FEST! Absolutely amazing to see complete strangers bringing food to share with people they've never met before. This is proving to be a VERY generous group. There are also many people who deserve thanks for making this a success and(I won't name names here, lest I forget someone)many of them are PMSC members who helped me out a LOT, by setting up targets ahead of time and acting as a go-between with the club directors. Without these guys, much of this would not be possible. You guys know who you are. THANK YOU. I think I screwed up on my timeline here, but anywho... This upcoming PAFOA Pittsburgh Area Group Shoot will be NUMBER SIX. That's 6 consecutive months of doing a group shoot!!! I NEVER imagined it would continue like this, but I am SO happy it has. I can't tell you all how happy I am to have met all of you, and I look forward to meeting all of you noobs as well. I have not yet met a single person that I wouldn't like to shoot with again. I've said it before... I was a bit worried about an "open invite" as I was concerned with the potential for ya-hoos showing up and acting in a reckless manner. You are all to be commended for being safe, courteous shooters. As our attendance numbers have grown, we need to be extra careful and keep an eye out for each other's safety. As long as we do so, and present ourselves as mature, responsible firearm owners, I can see no reason for this event to end. I thank the directors of PMSC for allowing us to use the facilities and thank all of you in advance for your upcoming support, help, and safe firearm handling! I don't have a fancy "clapping hands" graphic like Soberbyker, but... Atta boy fellas! THANKS for making this come together month after month! I may have invited this group initially, but it wouldn't continue without all of you!
