Default My first Glock

Going to break down and look for my first Glock. I am not looking for a ccw necessarily so size isn't a concern, just ready for a new toy and thought time to get a Glock. Looking for thoughts on two I am considering :

1. Glock 37, 45 GAP with Tritium sights and two mags. Used but absolutely spotless for about $ 400

2. Glock 26, new, $ 425 it's the od green which I'm not crazy about, but ?

I know they are obviously two different beasts, but any feedback would be appreciated

26 hands down over anything in 45 GAP. You will actually be able to find ammo for the 26 and be able to pay for it.

i agree that 45 gap is not a very good choice but keep in mind that since PASP adopted 45 gap it will probably be more readily avail in pa than other place.

i'd still go with the 26, though, and i am no 9mm fan

i'd keep shopping and look for a G23 or G30, you should be able to get at least a G23 for around the same price, and b/c of the slightly increased size it will be more pleasant and easier to shoot than the 26, and in a major caliber with a pretty good capacity. also, you can later buy a 9mm conversion barrel and 9mm mags if you wish you had a 19

I agree with brown. 26! I have the 27 and love it! Know a couple DEA agents that swear by their G26. Ammo will be there. Good luck

If it's not for carry, I would buy a larger size than the 26. Either the 19 or 17 would be my top picks.

I forgot to mention that I have a 26 and it goes everywhere I go except work. I can't think of a better endorsement then trusting your life to something.

Yeah, 45 GAP is nice but ammo is outrageous if you can find it.

If you're not even going to carry it, I would look at another handgun. Glocks are great because they are around $500, work, work well, and are a perfect compromise in all respects. I carry one.

i have a 17 and have never found a way to carry it comfortably.

even though you may not intend on carrying it now, getting a 23 or 19 over a 22 or 17 will give you option to carry it down the road, when in the mean time all you are really giving up is a little sight radius. if you want higher capacity just use the larger mag, but imo the 17 mag in a 26 is a little silly, and maybe a bit unwieldy.

IMO the intermediate size glocks give all the advantages of the full size and some of the concealability of the subcompacts, while at the same time being a lot easier to shoot well than the subs.

i like my g30 in particular

What he said! If you get the 19, I bet you'd start carrying it.

You decided to buy a Glock. Great.
Pick a caliber. 9mm, .40 or 45.
Pick the size of the gun you want. (Regular service, compact, or sub compact)
Depending on above answers, you will pick a G17, G19, or G26 in 9mm.
Or a G22, G23, or G27 in .40, or a G21, G30, or G36 in .45 ACP.
It is also considered that you chose not to get the G34 9mm or the G35 .40 in the target models.

If you are in the Secret Service or Border patrol you might opt for the 357 Sig because that is what your organization uses for higher penetration.

If you would like to actually do much shooting, with the least difficulty in getting ammo? Get a 9mm, .40 or .45. You would not want a 45 GAP in anything unless you lost some bar bet or something similar.
