And how do you think it would play at the civil wrongful death suit if you ever were forced to defend yourself in your home?

If this was more than just a joke, I'd bet the lawyers would see it my way.

Why? While I find the sign a tad verbose, an ADT sticker and an "I don't dial 911" say the same thing. Winky smilies aside, what reasons do you have?

if you truly cant see what sort of damage a "I dont dial 911" sticker would have on you if you are ever in trial in relation to a defensive shooting then nothing I or anyone here can say will help you.

That horse you're on, dismount. Scroll up, go read the first post. Now read the third. I was responding to Hawk's post, Re: the lawyers seeing it his way. At no point did I reference a defensive shooting, nor did Hawk. He was referencing the liability issues of suggesting a thief hit a neighbor.

Before making snarky comments, it would behoove you to make sure you understand the conversation.

well, I see one snarky remark deserves another.

and I see where I misread the converstation

but the horse stays

if you put up a sign pointing at my home and inviting a crime to be commited to it you can bet Id see you in court.

Meh. I don't care enough to articulate why I think you're wrong. You win, go you.

I wouldn't advertise~I don't wear "gun" tshirts or bumperstickers or hats, don't go to internet "meets", stay pretty well quiet and closed in; nasty world out there..

IANAL, but the sign alone would most likely be actionable in a civil suit on the bases of vilification:

In law, defamation – also called calumny, libel, slander (for spoken words), and vilification (for written or otherwise published words) – is the communication of a statement that makes a claim, expressly stated or implied to be factual, that may give an individual, business, product, group, government or nation a negative image. It is usually, but not always,[1] a requirement that this claim be false and that the publication is communicated to someone other than the person defamed (the claimant).
