Has economy affected you?

Moved because of my wife's job which is good but about to get hit with student loan bills, working a part time crap job just to get a check of some kind in the door while still hunting for a big one, hoping to land that in a week or two. We're doing ok but nothing like we'd like to be.

company that I work for went from 9 employees to 5 in the past year and two of them are the owners. I'm lucky to get a 40hr week. I haven't seen a raise in over 5 years.

Wife's hours were cut, no raise this year.

Not all that bad but the no raise in 5 years is hurting us I dread the first of the year with a 30% increase in our electric, because our whole house is heated with electric.

Hell yes !! I was laid off in January of this year. I have looked for something that would pay close to what I was making. Fortunate to get Unemployment, it barely gets me by. The jobs I have found worth looking at don't even pay as good as the Unemployment !!!! I have started doing handy man work for neighbors and put a small add in the local paper with some success, but now I just had to replace the trans on my work truck. SHEESH its always something.......

When I heard that we are in the middle of the worst economy since the great depression I could think of only one logical course of action - quit a comfy six figure job with all the benefits to start my own business.
