Default NYC resident w/PA house . . .

This is a possession vs. ownership question.

I'm originally from Manhattan, I've got a friend that is getting into guns. I can guess that eventually he'll want to buy one.

They've got a 'country house' (as we used to call it 30 years ago) in PA. If he goes to buy a gun with a NY d/l, would he be required to have it sent to NYC for transfer even though it would be kept in PA exclusively?

Is there something besides a d/l that could be shown at time of purchase? Something like a deed or tax/utility bills?

You need to be a Pa. resident to walk out the door with a hand gun. A weekend home does not make you a resident of Pa.
You also need a State / Gov. I.D. to purchase any firearm. You must follow all the laws of the state you reside in.
So yes the hand gun must be sent to a dealer in NY. Or he can become a resident of Pennsylvania.

The use of the excuse (the gun is not going to leave Pa.) is not a new one.
And followed allot of times by well my friend can buy it for me.

That is about what I figured. It is too bad. Buying a pistol in NYC is a joke.

Just so everyone is clear, you can be a resident of a place and only spend weekends there.

If you like guns living in NJ or NY is not a good idea.

Tell him to get his ass here as a permanent resident in PA and breathe the fresh air of a fairly gun friendly state
