I do, but I keep them on a thumb/flash drive encrypted so only I can retrieve it.. Of course they would just hire a hacker to get into it and that is fine because if they find it I'm more then likely in custody or dead..

I keep no records on my computer..

But that is just because I don't trust them..

Excel is good for making a home inventory & I think microsoft works has a home inventory template on it.

You should not only have the guns documented but also everything else in your home. If there would be a fire or other disaster, the insurance company will more readily pay out if you can show documentation of what you had.
I've heard of some claims being paid with just a say so & others taking years to get a fraction of the compensation they were due.
Having an invenory with photos & serial numbers where applicable of everything in the home is a good idea.
If they ever come looking for the guns to confiscate, a hammer or flame to the drive should wipe out all the records of what you had even before the boating accident that just happened & you didn't have time to report yet ... but wait... you'll still need that to get paid from the insurance company for the lost guns! Shit I need to think this over some more LOL!

Store your list online (Dropbox, or equivalent). Unless the whole interweb goes overboard in your next boating accident, you should be able to satisfy the insurance adjuster, while keeping Uncle Sam guessing!

Yup, I do, including photo's of each, and the receipts. Kept in a nice little booklet provided free from my Sheriff and State Representative some years back when I applied the first time for my LTCF. This in turn is kept in my fire-resistant safe with the Birth Certificates, Passports, marriage license, etc, in a quick to grab sack of "Critical" paperwork.

I do. When I joined Muhlenburg shooting association they gave us all books for recording info on our guns that they'd gotten from one of the local state reps. Make, Model, Barrel length, SN, Date purchased, Price, etc and even a spot to record who you sold/traded it to if you get rid of it. I got everthing recorded and locked up separate from my guns.

If only we had a Lost/Stolen law, then we'd know the owner! Think of all of the pointless suffering! Think of the women and the children!
You get rep for not using loose.
That drives me crazy...

I'm using Gunsafe to keep a record of mine. It is free to download and use, it also allows pictures etc.. That is the reason for the flash drives.. You can have multiples of them stashed in different locations and if you must destroy one you still have others in safe locations..
With an encryption on it, it makes TPTB have to get a hacker to get the info..
While that may only be a delay tactic, it's fun to think about the frustration it will cause...

I have serial number, name, description, receipt (if applicable) and a picture of each of my firearms. My renters insurance will only cover the first $5000 of firearms for no additional cost. So, I had to get extra firearm insurance. In order to get this extra insurance, they needed that info.
