When you hotlink images (link directly to images on another site) you make that site pay to send the image to everyone who views your post. That's why you got the screaming chicken. Some sites will use considerably less SFW images if you hotlink, so be careful. It's safest and most ethical to rehost images somewhere like imageshack, photobucket, or here.

That makes a lot of sense. I just figured they had changed that picture on their website. I didn't realize that linking images like that costed them bandwidth. Good to know. Thanks. Rep sent.

If your slightly tech savvy, you can open a 'web page' account for free here. It's essentially a hard drive for yourself in cyber space that anyone can view. You can use it as a place to upload your pics and link them to wherever you want.

Such as here and here.

You then have complete control over your pics.
