Rich asked me to coordinating this item, as he has about a trillion other related things to work on. So, hi, I'm FNG19, and I'll be your tour guide for this part of the excursion.

Great question... I think gather/social drink prior to, since folks are coming from all over. If there's some food available too, bonus. Afterwards, of course, we'll be making some restaurant's life a living, profitable hell for an hour or two. Keep in mind that the funeral starts at 1500, which means we'll be arriving at the restaurant at the start of their dinner push most likely. We'll definitely have to let them know to expect the Mongrel Hordes.

Thank you for sharing your local knowledge... I don't know the area, so any suggestions that everyone has will be quite helpful!

Fantastic idea.

Two things. First, I used to work with a guy who set up dozens of local concerts. I'll see if I can find him again.

Second, my older sisters roommate is a musician and friends with some bigger name bands (I won't name them right now just in case it doesn't work out) and I'm going to find out if he could do anything for us in case of a concert.

I think that's a good idea. If the park isn't being used for soccer maybe we could do a big OC get together on the anniversary or the "soccer mom incident"?
Bolded part by me

Along the same line of thought , I know that some really big name groups ( that are now past their " hay day ")have come out of the York Area and Southeastern Pennsylvania as a whole , just a thought .

Maybe this will help:

Mapquest shows the funeral home in downtown Lancaster. Downtown Lancaster is 'tight'. Parking will be a bear, carpooling is the way to go.

Wonder if the cops are expecting a large number of people, regardless of whether those people are carrying?

HTH,

Dale

I havent seen this mentioned yet , and other then my idea about actually acquiring a building for a shelter for women , this next idea seems like the most everlasting and attention getting memorial to Meleanie .

What about reaching out to some of our friends in the Legislature and seeing about getting a Domestic Violence or Pro 2A bill passed in her name ? WhiteFeather would probably be the most knowledgeable one to weigh in on this ( no offense anyone) . Isnt there a date coming up for everybody to go to Harrisburg again for a lobbying session ? While its fresh on everyones mind. Obviously we as a community would have to have significant input into exactly what kind of legislation it would be.

Stickers / Ribbon:

As goofin mentioned, although the ribbon looks to be the item of choice, it will not be available for Tuesday.

Does anyone know of a resource we can get 24hr or less turnaround on these, just for Tues? We can use goofin's source for later events.

OR

Does someone have access to a printer capable of printing out some simple identity items just for Tues. These could be done on std label stock (from staples/w*mart/etc) Like 3"x3". The avatar graphic would work well on a white square label stock.

Just a thought. If someone could pick that up and run it tht would be awesome. I will not be on much of the day, but if you send me a PM I will get the email notice on my blackberry.

One more thought. If someone can do the avatar stickers, should we mod the graphic to a purple/lavendar ribbon??

Parking is extremely limited at the funeral home. There is on street metered parking and there is a parking garage a block and a half from the funeral home.

I can talk to my brother in law who is a detective in Lancaster and see if he knows anything.

I don't know if the idea has been brought up, but we could rent a banquet room at a hotel. The Hotel Brunswick is about 5 blocks from the funeral home.

We could have a gathering there and either do heavy appetizers, or a sit down meal.

How about having a turkey shoot at the many shoots that are popping up. Basically a frozen turkey is purchased. Then people put up a few bucks to shoot at a target. The closest shot wins the turkey.

Same idea could be used for ammo, gift cards, or gas cards.

Any profits goes into the fund.

When we were in Florida , our club had a slight twist on the Turkey Shoot idea . They hung the Turkey by a string/thin rope , and you had to cut the line with a bullet to win it .
