Steel does not fatigue under pressure. If it would, people would suggest lifting up your car over night to release the tension on its suspension ... ever heard about such nonsense?

Sounded reasonable when I didn't know anything about how metal fatigue worked. To me, a spring compressed was a spring in use. Now I know better.
