This semester i'm taking a course called Community Policing. At the beginning of every class the professor asks "anyone think of the class outside the class" So I bought up the city counsil meeting last night in scranton because the college is 3 or 4 blocks away. No one said much about the event even after I tried a few times. But someone said I didn't know there was this huge gun problem in scranton with stolen guns and I said yah me either. So the one bitch who knows everything about everything (quick example:when your at a casino everyone who is up money always walks away....how stupid is that lol). She said that well they sell the stolen guns to pawn shops and they sell them for 75 bucks. I said first off theirs only 1 pawn shop in scranton that I know of and they don't play with guns and their isn't guns that sell for 75 and selling a gun or buying a gun isn't like grabbing a pack of smokes.

Oh here we go he's gonna aruge with me again about this shit now (like i'm toddler trying to talk about rocket science). I said I buy and sells guns and know 60% of the prices of all guns esp. newer handguns. That's when she started to get obnoxious and throw arms around an say there was a pawn shop in Dunmore that was selling gun illegaly out of his store and was arrested for it.

I just looked at the professor and he nodded and told to her stfu. But ya know I've been wrong before so my question is what's the name of this pawn shop in Dunmore, how long ago did this happen and what happened.

Mickey, maybe she is selling these stolen arms, since she knows so much. I will tell you a story about a girl like that when I was in college. I was taking a creative writing class and part of it was reading poetry of others. Well, we were reading a poem about how an american indian was having such a hard time adjusting after we conquered the new land. After we read that the teacher asks what everyone's thoughts were. This broad, much like the one in your class, says," If its so bad, why don't they just leave?" Well, did she get an ear full from me. Its great to be in college and throw some expelatives at someone without getting sent to the office. BTW When I attended PSU in the 90s, I did a speech about how we need less gun control. I received no "boos" and was actually asked good questions, not bashing. Just shows how liberal things are getting I guess.

You won't find a lot of guns in pawnshops in PA because it is illegal to make a loan secured by a gun in PA. They could buy a handgun and resell it -- but the transfers would have to be done by someone with a FFL complete with background checks, etc. Not likely.

The correct term for the pawnshop this girl described would be "fence," and a number of state and federal laws would have been violated in the process.

I think before i briefly tried searching pawn shops in dunmore and didn't find anything....so really if the pawn shop does exesist the guy could be an ffl and just buy the gun and everything is nice and legal?

It sounds to me like she just couldn't stand the thought of being proven wrong in front of the class, so she spewed out whatever she could think of quickly to make herself seem correct. Just pointing out how unlikely the scenario is and the fact that you couldn't find anything on the internet about the arrests should shut her up.

Just last semester, over the summer, I did a speech in my public speaking class on how we need less gun control. I got an A on it from the professor and no boos or anything from the class. I didn't exactly get intelligent questions (How many guns do you have? Do you have a machine gun?, etc.), but no bashing. Of course, if it were a different classroom of students, it could have easily gone to gun-bashing.
