disorderly conduct, can my fire arm be confiscated?

I recently received a summary disorderly conduct. I "fired my gun approximately 20 times" at 11:00 at night and the neighbors (1/2 mile away) called the police. I was on private property owned by my mother in a secluded area, the gun belongs to me and I have a license to carry it. When the police showed up I was questioned, I had consumed a few beers, I'm 21, and I was up front about that. I told them I was shooting and I received a summary disorderly conduct. I consulted a lawyer today because, without going into too much detail, I feel as though I was jerked around. The lawyer said that because the gun was involved in a "crime" it can be confiscated. Does any one have any information or first hand experience with this situation? Any insight is much appreciated as this matter has me very concerned.

I was firing at a target illuminated by truck headlights in the direction of the woods. nothing but dense trees and rolling hills for at least a mile. The issue, as stated on the citation, was the noise.

Your firearm won't be confiscated.

As for the noise?? Well, while you were "legal" doing the activity.....the time of day/night comes in to play.

The judge will look at the case and probably determine that the gunfire and time of day constitute "unreasonable noise".

A lawn mower or chain saw at 7am.....would not be deemed to be unreasonable.......same as gunfire. But due to the hour, your actions constitute DC.

As for drinking beer and shooting guns........you really don't want me to address that issue.

Hell no. I have two Disorderly Conducts on my record, and i still have all my guns, my LTCF, and just bought yet another gun yesterday.

Sounds like you have some lame neighbors.

I mean 11:00 isn't the best time to shoot off some rounds, especially after drinking, but if I called the cops everytime I heard gun shots late at night I'd need a donut stand.

I looked at a house once near Shunk, which is near your area. It's a very rural area.

Was this in or near town?

I had the same thing happen on a friends secluded farm. Neighbors had a hissy fit 'cause we wouldn't let them come over & shoot so they called the cops. Cops told us we could do whatever the hell we wanted on private property but just asked us to limit shooting to the daytime as to not give the idiot neighbors a reason to call & bother them.

They really should've just asked you not to do it anymore, but it sounds like they decided to be dicks about it.
