Default Lock & Load - Custom Hearing Protection

So im sure many have seen Lock & Load with R Lee Ermey; but has anyone noticed his hearing protection?

while researching these novelty looking ear plugs most of my research turned up that some people often find themselves using spent shell casing as hearing protection; while all of said people agree its a bad idea; most say its better than nothing.

while i prefer to shoot. and still hear later; i embarked on a lil DIY novelty project

I present to you Too-Tall's .40 s&w ear plug

(dont mind the 5 o clock shadow i just woke up when i did the photos; hadnt hit the showers yet )

you can laugh if you want but they work no different than their original state (without the casings), and look rather neat if i do say so myself. makes for interesting conversation at the range.. that is if i ever went to one. backyard shooting is my choice
