So, how many people have a blowout kit in their range bag?
Stuff happens. Medical training and lethal weapons go hand in hand. |

^^Much wisdom here. For most shooters relevant training is hard to find. While most classes are good at teaching general first aid they do not address the issues that happen with gunshots. Defense Training International (John Farnam) has a class that does. It is called the Tactical Treatment of Gunshot Wounds. This course is highly recommended for all who use firearms.

That's also why i note that most blow out kits stateside are incomplete. You look at any of the commercially prepared kits, and you won't even find a CPR shield in there because "CPR on a traumatic cardiac arrest is pointless". Good point, but what's more likely in the united states? A) you catch a bullet from hadji B) your at the range on a 100 degree day and the 70 year old guy shooting trap goes down from heat exposure |

Wow, thats one lucky guy. You can see it bounce up off the ground a few yards in front of him before it hits his ears. Thats a pair of ears to keep!
I'm waiting until I get through nursing school to get kits for the range. Hopefully, I'll know enough to keep someone with heat stroke or a richochet alive while an ambulance is on their way, however unlikely that may be. Gotta say though, that its a good idea to have one in the car at all times, weather going to the range or not. |

I raised my hand "alright," he said, "go grab your kit" "oh, we took [my friends] car, my kit is back in PA," i told him. "well," he said "do you know what a medic is without his kit?" "what's that?" "Just another fucking bystander" He gave me a 30lb medic pack and told me i was married to it for the next 3 days and if i was ever more than 10 seconds from it he'd kick my ass. Since then i got my shit together. ![]() You have some training, now get some more, make a kit and keep it handy. Last edited by MarcS; July 2nd, 2007 at 08:15 PM. |

Marc - Whats the breakdown in your kit there? I can make out about 3/4 of the items but not all of them, also what company makes the roll that all that is in? I have yet to come up with an acceptable quick pack that is the right mix of enough and not enough supplies.
