A dedicated gun / ammo room in the basement is on the drawing board.

Your own Shooting Range may be the most costly thing you have ever done.

The cost of ammo + number of free hours from end of work to bedtime = $$$$$$$$$$$$

And daily cleaning of the gun.

Don't forget to invite us over to your place once the range is completed.

I would also recommend using dirt on top of tires. Make sure that the tires are stacked up high enough to cover your targets.

Invest in a range finder to ensure that your distances are correct. If you don't have one and you don't want to purchase one, I could loan you mine.

I agree with another poster-have you checked the local orindances? I live in Bucks and I know that many townships have ordinances against the discharging of firemarms other than for very specific uses. Based on the fact that you said 2+ acres, I am guessing middle to northern Bucks where you should have less of an issue with this?

You sir have a open invitation! May also take you up the range finder offer which I guess would be better than walking off paces to measure

The address is listed as Quakertown but its off 313 near Lake Nockamixon. As I said, gun fire is not at all uncommon there so I doubt it will be a big issue. Nevertheless, I agree that checking local laws is the smart move before starting. Let me know how close you are. May draft you if you are good with a shovel

Phillyd2,

I am in Newtown, but if you have steel plates, I would be more than happy to bring my shovel.

O.K. even if you don't have steel plates, just provide the beer. (After were done shooting)

I truly hope this works out for you, but unless you are moving into an extremely rural area I have my doubts that you will be able to regularly shoot without getting hassled. A shot here and there is no big deal, but unloading a couple hundred rounds.. I have my doubts. Good luck regardless.
