My BFF
My first handgun is still my favorite. Second Gen Glock 19 with old night sites (perfect for me as I can still see them). BFF is the prefix of the SN.

![]() My Taurus PT140 Pro. I know, unlikely candidate for favorite, but for an impulse buy, by a then-inexperienced shooter, looking for his first real defense caliber weapon, it was a great choice. I actually agreed to purchase it sight unseen, and owned it for several months before actually getting it to a range. The grip feels like it was made for my hand. It shoots better than me (When I do my part, it is dead on) and has never, ever malfunctioned on me. I feel bad if I don't bring it along on a range day. ![]() Honorable Mention - My Walther P22. Purchased, much to the chagrin of my then-fiancee, on my third trip to the range. Its no bullseye shooter, its not much to look at, and I over paid, by a large margin. Also, as a new shooter, it was quite a shock to discover that the handgun I coveted so much wasn't respected as a self defense weapon. (I read a novel that mentioned a gun in passing. The only caliber I knew was .22, from the mention in that very same novel) It still gets just as much range time as my XD and my Taurus, though. Nothing like putting an entire block of .22 through a ragged hole to put a smile on my face after a rough work week. I own a far better handgun, have fired far better handguns, and even have a much, much better handgun on hold now. (It may unseat my Taurus for top spot, given some time.) However, just because of the way they were acquired, with both being mistake purchases made by a new gun owner, combined with the way they fit me in the end, have made these two my favorites.

![]() Those are Stag grips made by Patrick Grashorn www.grashornsgunworks.com/ Patrick is a true craftsman that will make a set of grips exactly how you want them - all bone, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, or full bark. The grips on the M66 in my post were also made by him. His prices are very reasonable and his turn around time is incredible.

I'll be shooting this one at the ICORE East Coast Regional Revolver Championship on September 27th.
![]() It started life as one of the 5 inch half lug "Stocking Dealer" specials. It came with a HiVis front and V notch rear. I had the cylinder cut for moons and put a 7 pound DA pull on it and shot it for a year at speed steel and ICORE matches. The stock sights were very fast indeed on the close targets, but I never could get the hang of fine alignment with the round top HiVis in the V and I was dropping a lot of points at distance. So I swapped the sights out for an SDM front and a S&W square notch blade and that's how she sits today.
