Default XD

My choice is the XD for two reasons. One is the fit and feel in my hand, second is the grip safety...Mike45

XD.45 Tactical all the way. I havent much experience with the Glock 23, but all people who have glocks and shoot my XD get converted. MAybe all people except Danp.

Either way, I chose the XD over a Glock (that was my second choice) because of fit, looks, and reviews all over the interwebs.

I'd stick with the XD, I've never liked the feel of the Glocks,
The XD has atleast 1 more manual safety in the grip which I favor over the trigger only safety of the Glocks.
The XD I think has a 14rd mag? or is it 13+1?
The G21 is 13+1.

Pros for G21
1 Glocks are ultra reliable and have been in service for 20 years.
2 Glocks take a beating and continue to function.
3 Glocks have tons of aftermarket parts and plenty of Glock Armorers
4 Glock mags are easy to find
5 Tennifer finish is the best finish (well hard chrome is the hardest)

Pros for XD45
1 Added safety feature on the back of the pistol grip is a major plus
2 Chamber indicator is also very nice
3 Double stacked mags without the bulk of the G21
4 Very accurate

Cons for G21
1 It has Glock accuracy
2 Bulky if you have smaller hands
3 Harder to CCW with a G21

Cons for XD45
1 Cost is going up
2 The finish wasn't as good as the Glocks, but I hear the newer XD's are better

I shot Diego's and Drak's XD45 today at 10 yards and I must say it's dead on accurate. The G21 is way too bulky for my smaller hands. I know for a fact that the G21 wont' shoot as good as the XD...Glocks are just not known for thier ultra accuracy. Perhaps if you buy an aftermarket Glock barrel...KKM, Jarvis, Wilson...you will get a shooter....but that will add to the total cost of your weapon.

3. Springfields policy of not selling parts.
Great list. I added a couple commments in red. It's also hard not to consider the recent issues with Glock 21s in service. Portland Oregan's Kaboom issues and the LAPD failure to fire issues. On the flip side, the XDs haven't had the widespread service of the Glock so we do not know yet if any issues would have arisen.

Anyone who questions a glock 21's accuracy apprently needs some training in marksmanship. Glock 21 is one of the most accurate .45 ACP out of the box. Many police officers throughout the country bet their lives on it everyday!

I have fired both subject models and with 30 years of firearms experience the XD doesn't match up to the G21. But I will say that the XD has promise but must work out its flaws. IMHO

You ask a question and when everyone that replied stated they would choose an XD over a G21 you get upset. Perhaps you should take this to GT...that way you get the answers you are looking for.

Cool

Plus 1 for the XD .45 acp. I have fired the glock, and i chose the XD's comfort and feel over the glock model. I also have noticed the recoil seems smoother on the XD. Maybe thats just the xd lover in me
