Default Training / Self defense sub-forum

as it stands we have several good threads on SD topics spread around the forum in different areas.

There is a kinife thread under general

there is a thread on working with a gun in one hand under 'cmpetition and tactics"

there is a carbine training thread under rifles.

I would think that if we had a sub-forum for topics relating to training and techniques it would be a good place to orginize theses discussions. And anyone looking for that sort of info would just go there to find it. Otherwise if you are new and searching for info on training it might be just about anywhere.

I know we dont want to sub-forum for every little thing and wind up with a complicated maze, but this topic is large and very central to those of us who carry a gun.

I think it'd be a great idea.

Not only would it help people find and discuss that info much easier, but it would help underscore the need for it, IMO.

I also think it would be a good idea. The subject was addressed early on in the sites history and IIRC it was incorporated into this forum.

There were only a handful of members at that time though. Perhaps now with as many members as we have, there would be enough traffic to have it as a separate forum.

another vote for "great idea"...

except i actually think it is good to have some training threads in the general forum to maybe help expose people who would not think to visit the training forum to the idea that they should probably get some training.

I usually don't catch classes or miss them in the shuffle. Personally I would love an automated email notification whenever a class is posted within a certain number of miles. It wouldn't give me heads up of a philly class, but I doubt I would travel that far anyways unless it was REALLY a great deal.
