I live in the Trenton area and I want to purchase a BB gun to shoot with my son. Will I have a problem buying a BB gun rifle in PA being a NJ resident? Do retailers ask for I.D. in PA when purchasing a BB gun? And, can you recommend a store in the Morrisville area where I could buy a BB gun rifle. Thanks in advance for your help.

There is no law that would prevent you from purchasing a BB gun in PA but if there is a law in N.J. then there may be an issue with the legality of bringing it back across state lines.

They will not even ask for ID when buying a BB gun. They are out on the shelf, you pick one up and bring it to the cashier. You pay and leave.
BB guns are treated the same as any rimfire or centerfire gun in NJ. Not so in PA. But ByAnyMeans is correct. Follow NJ laws when reentering the state. |

That is why I asked.

NJ does indeed treat BB guns as firearms.. see section 4 under definitions on the link below:
http://www.state.nj.us/njsp/info/pdf...tle13-ch54.pdf This means you have to apply for a "Firearms Purchaser ID Card" (form STS33) at your local police dept. You will also have to fill out a form (SP66) giving police permission to perform an inquiry on your mental health. This also involves getting fingerprinted. It's for you're own good... remember that.

thay quedtion of the op raises another for me. no big deal but what is the legality of philladelphia's ban on air gun sales? does not the state law override philly's and if not why?
seems we would be better off with them ( air guns ) being considered the same as a .22 here in pa.

I think your up to something.......
Be advised, youll likely get in big trouble for simply having an unregistered BB gun in NJ if your caught with it. But I think you know this. ![]() Quote:
