vigilante - someone who takes the enforcement of law or moral code into his or her own hands.

Key word is takes. A LEO is given the responsibility of enforcement of the law or moral code

That sound right ??

+1

I hate the word vigilante it's one of those over used to help insure that the police keep power over all of us, but what do we do when the police are not doing their job? Either by lack of ability or lack of will to do so?

Take a walk through my area, or wilkinsburg, etc. etc. at night. Lot of good stuff going on there.

Don't feel bad, Skuggi...I spelled Connecticut wrong (too many "t"s)

Anyway...I hear and read a lot of talk from politicians about citizens should be involved...and decrying "gun" violence. Everytime I hear or read gun violence, I know that politician is worrying more about the too, then the underlying causes of violence. "Gun" violence is bad...what about "knife" violence...is that OK? I don't hear any politicians worrying about that.
Therefore, the politicians' credibility is zilch.

And, yes...maybe it is time to get some of the scum off our streets.

+1 completely agreed, the reason we're in the situation and gun laws get passed is how much we have to hide our rights. This is one of the reasons I OC.

BTW, the abbreviation for Connecticutt is CT (for your future reference)
Wrong, the "abbreviation" for Connecticut (one "t", not two), by law, is "Ct." or "Conn." The two-letter abbreviation used by the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) is for the Postal Service's convenience only, and has no bearing on citizens. The USPS can't even require us to use ZIP Codes for First Class mail (but it can for packages and such).

What with all these talks about turd land CT? he he heh.........I lived there a while back and this is my take on it:

- It is a mostly liberal state (democrat landslide in every presidential election, it seems). But as far as gun laws go, people are allow to own copies of the "assault weapons" (they still have the ban), for example, you are not allow to own a HK91, but owning a PTR-91 is OK, FOR NOW. Go figure, eh.. It is a little bit better than Joisey, but it is not a gun friendly state.

- Some people earn high incomes but they have to pay a lot back in taxes (both cars and properties), insurance, utilities, food, clothing and health care.

- Once of the most expensive state to to biz in. Jobs are moving out of that state faster than it creates, for the same reason mentioned.

- It has some of the poorest neighborhoods in the nation, especially in Bridgeport and Hartford "ghetto", despite its status as the "most" wealthy state.

- People are mostly snobs, at least in my experience anyway. Some "country" pinheads who live on isolated/rural lands there are more racist than the KKK. Do you know that they have the KKK chapter in Meriden? Don't think just because you are in the North you are free from racism.

- There is nothing to do there. Well, in the fall when the leaves fall, it is pretty but that is about it.

Now back to armed citizen groups patrolling Haven. Well, I think it would be short lived. The police does not want "competition" naturally even though it is incompetence and ineffective. Some of them Jewish organization is wealthy, maybe they got more than enough cash to keep this thing alive by going to court (if they are stopped by the "authority") or by slipping some changes under the mayor door, he he heh
