The 11000 are your rep POINTS (visible only to you, and maybe the mods admins)

the 110 is your rep POWER (this shows on each post you post)

Rep points are what you get when other give you their rep power. I think you give 10% of your power when giving someone rep.

IIRC, The basic formula is for every 100 points you add a rep power. You also get a power for every 1000 posts and another for each year you are a member.

It's just internet rep... depends on how seriously you take the internet.

Internet... not serious business. Or is it?

No, reputation power (approximately 100 at the time of this post) is displayed above your posts. Reputation power is how many points you give or take away from other people’s reputation points when you apply reputation to them.

Your reputation points (the 11,000), is the cumulative amount of reputation you have received from others’ reputation power.

Addendum: And kudos to me for not noticing that, after your post, there was another page which already contained a good explanation from soberbyker.

RepButton ^
above.

I've been on other boards (tech related) where at the end of the response the person says something like..."if this was helpful hit the rep button" I am glad not to see that on this forum.

You can't give negative rep. until you post 500 times.

BTW, seeing these old threads, and odd usernames, where did some of these people go? (hopefully not to jail)

Thank you, I have been wondering about this for some time. Glad I finally found the answer!
