I've heard of a few ranges having that policy. Believe it or not, it's to try and keep people bent on suicide out. If you can convince them you are just there for shooting paper I suspect they might bend the rules.

SPAG is probably OK (if expensive). I'd recommend the older party (your brother) call. Also, they may make your brother take a class if he says he has no experience, which wouldn't be the worst thing.

Thumbs up Have you tried Ready Aim Fire?

Ready Aim Fire over in Bristol....last exit on the PA Tpke before you cross over into occupied territory (That's fuckin' Jersey for you non-pa folk).

Right off of the PA Tpke, rents Class 3, Pistols, and small caliber rifles along with shotguns. Very family oriented, very patient folks. They treat everyone like family and don't pull bullshit like they do at places like Targetworld, Targetmasters, etc.

www.rafire.com is their website and is quite close to Philly. I've been going there for years and the owners are great people. Prices are probably the lowest I've seen for a rental range in the SEPA area. Give them a look, you'll be very pleased!

I ended up going to Classic Pistol, as SPAG required us to have a year of shooting experience (I'm sure I could have lied, but we needed a decent bit of help to start off heh).

It wasn't bad at all, although my brother ended up shooting off the target hanger, costing us damage fees haha

I do agree with you that sometimes you get the ghetto hood rats from Philly that show up and act all thug. They now have cameras and a RO who hangs out there watching everyone. My only minor gripe is that the RO is New Jersey correction officer and wears his shield when he's over there. IMHO he tends to act like he's God at times and sooner or later I think a PSP or a PA LEO is going to let him have it if he tries to pull his Mall Ninja status on them.

Other than that, Joe and the gang have always been overly nice to me and my friends I had visit from NY. They also always took the time to make some gun-shy noobies that were visiting me feel very safe and confident. As with all places, YMMV.

BUT....nobody can compare the level of douchebagery I have seen first hand from Targetmaster's and Targetworld. I have a story that I witnessed first hand at TMs on one of their C3 items they rent. It would make some ppl cry here, but that is for another thread.
