Hey guys this is kinda last minute Im traveling to New York tomorrow and later this week I know they wont let anyone carry a gun or a knife but is pepper spray legal to carry there? I know it sounds dumb and pepper spray is hardly anything for self defense but its better than nothing I would at least like to carry a gun in the glove compartment in condition 3 than nothing but I know thats illegal too any thoughts? or feed back is appreciated

Not sure on the laws, but have some more faith in pepper spray. Get a good kind, like Fox Labs. I carry it daily and feel confident that it would give me the distance I'd need to get away from an encounter. I've had indirect contact with it and I can assure you, its pretty rough on the eyes and lungs.

New York only permits certain kinds of pepper spray that are sold by New York FFLs and pharmacists. Don't take any of the good stuff up there.

I believe NYC still allows small locking folders? Make a quick and dirty sheath, and just keep the knife locked open in your pocket. With a good light and situational awareness, you run a decent chance of coming back to civilization alive.
