It wasn't a cut, I shattered the Ulnar artery. I was home alone, so I had to call 911, then locate a towel or 3, then unlock the front door, re-holster the .45... etc.

Like I said, LEO response was very good, but even he called on his radio asking where the hell the medic was. So... I made a coupla sammiches. What the hell else was I gonna do, just stand there and bleed out for nothing?

Incidently, in the ER, 2 tourniquets, a large trauma bandage, and manual pressure from 2 nurses couldn't stop the bleeding. Nothing short of surgery would even slow the bleeding. Those nurses outfits were trashed.

The ordeal would have been rather stressfull if not for the 150 megawatts of morphine they gave me. I didn't really need it because I bruised the Ulnar nerve at the same time and everything was naturally numb, but who am I to turn down a pharmacuetical grade party with attention from lovely nurse?

WOW! After reading that other thread and seeing the pics you got me beat by a mile! I'm glad it wasn't worse.

Well this is a question that really can't be answered in a 'what if' situation. Here's the factors:

Where did the bullet hit?

Is the wound life threatening?

Is the adrenaline pumping to the point I don't realize how bad i am hurt?

Do I have any options to both survive and protect myself?



These are all things that are spur of the moment and mixed with a shitload of conflicted thoughts .. and there is no way in hell anyone can 'Monday morning quarterback them in a what if thread.

Just another reason that Every Man Should Carry a Handkerchief.

Use it to wrap a minor wound, as padding for a compression bandage, to pack a major wound along, as well as a number of other uses. A very multi-purpose, and manly, item to have.
