A while back I responded to some gun issue on the Brady Gun Site and ended up on their mailing list. I got something just the other day about how easy it was to get permits to carry and they sited this case as an example of how lax the laws are. With out all the facts this sounds scary that a child could just walk in and get a carry permit.

This will no doubt be touted about by anti's to prove how easy it is to
"carry a gun". The FOID card certainly will be misrepresented as a permit to carry a gun in a car or something. If this can happen in a tough gun law state like Illinois.....

I can see it now.

funny? absoluetly! but I beleive that this could be used to hurt us. I can see the Dem's using this to make it even harder to get a permit. All it was, was a clerical error and they are going to turn it in to something huge

Oh, I agree that it will be used against us, but if you go back and read it, it was NOT an error... the father forgot to check boxes and the application was denied until everything was filled out properly. There is nothing that limits the age of the application.

From the article...
Quote:
The program is designed to keep guns away from convicted felons, those convicted of domestic battery or domestic violence and anyone subject to an active Order of Protection.
My 10-month-old son hasn't broken any of these rules -- yet.
But why would the state police issue a FOID card to anyone younger than 18?
I called the state police, who said they followed the law as it's written.
"There is nothing in the FOID Act or any of the rules that says anything about age restrictions," said Lt. Scott Compton, of the Illinois State Police.
Baby got BANG!

The FOID card isn't a license to carry right...its just a licensen to own a gun in general?? Something we don't have to deal with in real America.
