It will never work out that the rich/wealthy will have to pay the surtax. These people are very good at hiding their money. There was a report this morning saying that the gov't was going after some 50,000 people who are hiding their money in Swiss UBS accounts and that the Swiss Gov't was preventing the U.S. from obtaining the records and if necessary they would seiz the records so that the U.S. Justice Department could not get the information on these people. This has been going on for many years and the Swiss Gov't is willing to pay the U.S. big fines for sending people to the U.S. and getting the wealthy people to put their money into the Swiss UBS accounts. Good for the rich. It is not evil to be wealthy if it was earned honestly. The idea that because someone became wealthy entitles the government to take it from them is ludicrous. What possible incentive can there be to work hard and become wealthy if the government is going to step in and take it?

This Republic is not founded on redistribution of wealth. If I ever find myself wealthy, I will do whatever I can to protect if from being taken.

I can't tell you how many healthy people I have dealt with that are sucking on the public tit. Go out and work or starve to death.

I have no problem with safety nets for the truly needy but there are way too many taking advantage of the system.

Switzerland has been in the banking industry since banks were just a guy with a couple rocks in a fold of his bearhide. Absolute privacy in all banking matters is national law in Switzerland, so even if a bank wanted to cooperate with the US they're prohibitted by law from doing so. It's why Swiss bank accounts are loved so much, the bank cant even legally disclose that there are any accounts at the bank, let alone who holds them or how much is in them. There are exceptions, but not many.

How dare a foriegn country uphold it's own laws and not cow-tow to US demands!!!

If we are talking about ill gotten gains it it one thing (drug money, money laundering....etc.) but what this is about is people who earned this money, paid tax on it, and invested/deposited it in a swiss account.

All these problems didn't arise in the last eight years. How stupid are these people? Pretty stupid.

Let me fill in the blanks... it started in the 60's when big comglomerates began to move thier buisnesses over seas to increase thier profit margins. And from there it progressively got worse, due to these Dems not giving them tax breaks.

And noone is wlling to REBUILD, this once money making country. All the goverment can do is keep are noses above water.
