Default C&R Question

I'm applying for a C&R. I need to send a second copy of the application to my local CLEO. Who is the local CLEO? I live in Pittsburgh and I called the Allegheny Sheriffs office and the woman that answered said she had no idea. Another woman got on the phone and said to call the state police. Any idea on where to send this application?

I live in Chester County and sent mine to the sheriff's office. I figured that was where to send it since that's where I went to get my LTC.

IIRC it can be different depending where you live. I live in Centre Co. and it goes to the Sheriff. In Philly however, I believe the CLEO is the Philadelphia Chief of Police/Commissioner/whatever. I don't know about Allegheny Co. Like kypt said i would send it to whoever controls the LTCF's.

C&R = curio and relics..it's a license issued from the BATF for collectors.

No problem. If you are into WWII or WWI rifles and you want to collect. Getting your C&R is a good way to get started. It will cost you $30 for 3 years.

Many large companies will give you a discount if you send in your C&R. They will give you a dealer account and send a special price list. You can save money on stuff other than guns as well.

Also, the guns purchased are shipped directly to you so no transfer to an FFL is required. A C&R is an FFL referred to as an FFL-03. Not a dealer license (FFL-01).
C&R eligible firearms are listed on the ATF site. Generally they are firearms over 50 years old...with restrictions. At $30 every 3 years it is often concidered "free".
I think it is WAY cheaper than "free" due to what you'll save in discounts and no transfer fees. One purchase in a 3 year period gets your money back and them some.

Thanks for your help people. I'll just send it to the sheriffs office...even though the person that answered the phone will not know what it is or who to give it to.
