I could help out if you were from this end of the state. Im a member at 3 gun clubs within a 20 mile radius from home, and there's about 6 more in the same area that I could join.

Ugh. My kids are grown, wife and I have our health, I'm retired, I'm ready to relax and treat myself to a little place back in the USA , and my homeland is sliding off the plate.

The 2010 elections are going to be very, very interesting. Maybe the last ones.

I apologize for the thread hijack.

in my experience at the public ranges everyone will stop if you ask to check/replace targets or sometimes the guys who are really into the competition shooting will move up to within spitting distance of the targets, one time a guy had a what appeared to be a revolver .50 cal and told everyone muff up and get ready for a shockwave....they might be hmm wtf is he doing but after you tell them they should be interested, i know i would be or not care and just take the down time to reload.....what about in the woods (not familiar with your area) controlled environment, along with the privacy you want?

I'm not sure SGL is a safe direction, their pretty strict on target options. Wicin's Farm is not far from you, it's an outdoor range and I think they might be accomadating to your request given the reason. I'd be happy to take you in as a guest at Langhorne, which I joined this week, but I have no idea if such targets are permissible there. From what I've read thus far XD is presenting the best option. So what if it's in MD, so long as it's legal it's good.

I liked to use gallon jugs for educational purposes with my kids when they were younger and learning to shoot. The idea being that it helps represent, as best I could, the energy and damage a bullet causes. I just wanted to drive home the rule of not shooting something your not willing to destroy such as the people sharing a range with you.

I'd be happy to bring you as a guest to my range (Boyertown rod and gun club). However the shortest distance you can use at the "rifle" range is 25 yards and it's down hill. I'm not sure if they would be OK with these type of targets at the pistol range. It's about a hour - hour and a half drive from you, PM me if your interested.

ETA It'll have to be the end of the week at the earliest.

As for the rounds, I was planning on shooting what I have: the old Black Talon, Ranger T-series, PDX1 bonded, and Speer Gold Dot. Thats 4. I will gladly shoot another type if anyone as anything. I said I would shoot five. So, out of respect to the range/land owner I will keep the count to five. So one more. If you have a round you wish to give me, I will test it. Golden Saber or Hydra-shock would be a good one. . .

But in the mean time, if anyone goes to a outdoor range, ask em if I could do this! Thanks!!!
You could always meet me at the state line and give me the water jugs and 5 rounds, I could go home and load em into my XD40, fire em, grab up the expanded rounds, and run back to the border to give em to you LOL.

I actually know some landowners just over in PA who have big tracts of farmland, but not sure if they would give the OK for HP shooting tests by someone they don't know being with me.
