Koli,
I'm not sure about the "cats meow" but GPGC is probably the least restrictive club I have shot at. It's far enough away from all but a few residences to allow night shooting (we have shot till midnight or a bit past). I will say that PMSC has a better setup for group shoots because the pistol and rifle ranges are next to each other where GPGC has separation of the two by about 100 yds. The basic setup of GPGC is for the most part 5 areas with the clubhouse being centralized. The 4 open pistol bays and one covered pistol bay are on the backside of the clubhouse). The 5-stand ranges are on the front side, At each end, there are rifle ranges (100 yd with 3 covered benches) on one end and a combination 400 yd rifle range with bi level covered benches and a .22 cal set of covered benches ( I don't know what distance these are set up for nor the safety issues with them being on the same plane as high powered rifles as far as being clear to check targets). As you enter the complex with 100 yd rifle on left and pistol bays right, there is the "hole"(hard left) which is essentially a strip mine at a lower elevation (more contained) which also houses a sort of shoothouse. I believe this is where full auto used to be fired. ( I'm not sure if any full auto is allowed pending the outcome of GPGC's legal issues). This club doesn't have the concrete floors and extended covered benches as PMSC does nor does it have and inside pistol range other than the covered pistol range. The facility at PMSC seems to have more upkeep and new construction of firing line benches. I would attribute this to guys like Roland and yourself that are continually doing upgrades to better the place. Those of us that used to shoot at GPGC are extremely happy that it has reopened, mostly because we are closer to this range than others (22 minutes for me). I personally will maintain both memberships. PMSC seems to be continually upgrading, has an inside pistol range and has a great bunch of members. GPGC also has great members., is considerably closer, and ranges for any type of shooting. I'm not sure what it would take to set up a shoot for Pafoa members as far as reserving some of the pistol bays and perhaps the 100 yd range. If it is possible, it would not exclude the other ranges if someone wants to shoot to 400 or wants to run some 5-stand (whatever in the hell that is ) or even (if permitted) a little full auto.Over the next few weeks, I'll ask some questions and keep the board updated. Cat's Meow, maybe not, but another place to shoot as long as we can. 27hand |

Thanks for all the information. I was just thinking it would be cool if we had a place west of the city to go for a shoot too. It would all depend if it really is opening again or not. I hope so for you guys on the west side. One reason I originally joined pmsc is that it is only about 7 miles from home.
Best of Luck joe esp w/your gameroom.

Stopped out today to find the gate locked at 1:15 pm. Any information on what is going on?

ALS,
Tex told me to call before going out to make sure he was there. I assumed it was for each time. I didn't have time this week even though I was on vacation so i don't know if anything has changed. I was going to try to get out there next weekend, probably on Sun. I'll call first. I wanted to talk to Tex about the possibility of a Pofoa shoot, reserving maybe 2 pistol bays( one for steel and one for paper) and the 100 yd range and also asking if any full auto would be permitted in the "hole" for those so inclined. Adjustment could be made for # of people interested. If it's possible, I'll post any info I get. Times, costs, any specific range rules, etc, etc. Later, 27 |

I stopped there Saturday and the gate was locked. Maybe next time I'll call first.

I called up Tex today b/c I was thinking of going shooting this weekend, but he left a message on my v/m stating, (paraphrasing in my words) that the Township was going back and forth with him again, so the range was shut down for now.
Disappointing! |

just as i was getting happy reading the beginning of this forum about it opening up again.. that last post killed my excitement... I think we should start a mailing list, and when we have information on the status, we can send out an email to everyone... i'll gladly pay for a website and make a mailing list, ofcourse i have to wait until after i get my next paycheck... spending the last one on a springfield armory v16 longslide... I live in Gibsonia, but i wouldn't mind coming all the way down there for some sporting clays, if anyone else would be interested in making a site, ( i could make a website, but i'm the worst designer when it comes to website making) i'll pay for it, but someone else gets to code... email me at my s/n @RMU.EDU (seperated the alias so i dont get automated junkmail)

Well that's not good to hear, I hope it gets resolved soon, I only got to shoot there once since it "reopened" and for the first time since then I'm not going to be out of town this weekend.
