Could be but previously, ATF only fussed with sale and manufacturing of firearms. I guess that that no one else in the Internal Security Directorate . . . excuse me, Department of Homeland Security wanted to fuss with it.

I appreciate what law enforcement means to our society and the men and women who take on this endeavor. But, and please don't fry me...just what makes them so special, that they can carry everywhere, retired or not, and an honest law abiding citizen can't? Hell in NJ a CCW permit is The Holy Grail. Connections and a lot money will do the trick in this corrupt State or LEO. And please don't tell me they've earned it, they got paid for the career they chose. You can argue that they can be trusted, and for the most part you'd be correct, but not always. LEO are human too. Not too long ago, a retired LEO shot, wounded, and killed people right here in ("Mayberry") Toms River. Then soon after that in a neighboring town, a Seaside Hts. LEO, who by the way was in charge of the automatic weapons did the same thing. My point being if we trust LEO, we should trust "Law Abiding Citizens" as well.
Is it hot in here or is that Oil in the frying pan ready for me? (JMO)

It's that thin blue line, that cuts on both edges.

No frying pan coming your way. I prefer a good ole open pit BBQ, with a nice slow move spit J/K...

No reason for anyone to flame you for saying what you think..what I forgot where I was.

Oh and for the record, I agree with ya..

The Virginian is on a distinguished road
Default Re: Retired police officers can carry in any state?

The part of all of this that I do not understand is the "retired police officer" portion. I believe that the standard should be placed on training not years of service.

I have graduated from the Smith and Wesson Academy as an instructor. I have also graduated from a U.S. Army firearms instructor course and have graduated from the U.S.Secret Service firearms instructor course but because I am not a "retired police officer" I am restricted to carrying in my home state of Virginia and those states that honor the Virginia carry permit.

I think that we should all push for a "National Carry" that would allow persons with a CCW to carry a weapon anywhere and in any state.

What are your thoughts?

The Virginian
