I feel naked...

without my two primary pistols. I just dropped them off to have them sand blasted. I will be refinishing the XD45 and the PT1911. I have other pistols to carry, but those two are my favorite to carry and to shoot. Guess the Steyr M40 will get the call, til I'm finished with the work.

How do you like the Steyr? Cool sight system on them. I haven't heard anything bad about them yet. CDNN has them often.

ETA: Forgot to ask......what finishes are you having put on the XD45 and the PT1911?

CDNN bought all the Steyrs in the US. Steyr almost went under, but they were purchased by an individual.

I've owned two of the older Steyr M series pistols. I really prefer them over the Glocks. The grip angle is better, the triggers are better. I like the low bore axis of the barrel as well. The trap sights took a little while to get used to, but they work very well for fast target aquisition. I actually swapped on my trap sights for some night sights. I prefer night sights on carry pistols. I wished that Steyr would hurry up and offer trap night sights. I also had my M40 finished by Tripp Research in hard chrome. I really like hard chrome because I feel that it is one of the most durable finishes being offered.




I plan on using KG Gunkote in FDE on the XD45. The PT1911 will get a Titanium Gray finish with black on the small parts.

Completely agree. When I first started carrying it felt like I had a neon sign hovering over me saying, "Man carrying a gun!". Now, when I don't carry I feel like something's missing.

BTW, Aub, nice to see you posting again, welcome back! Make sure to post pics of the PT1911 when it gets back, would like to see how it comes out.

Please post pics of the XD when you are finished, I have a XD 45, shoots awesome, love it...but I have to do something to improve its looks

I picked up the sandblasted pistols this morning. I bought everything I need to complete the refinishing. Now, I am waiting on UPS to deliver the KG, so I am hoping to complete the pistols this evening. The guy that sandblasted my parts managed to get rid of the ugly "billboard" on my Taurus slide. I can see the stamping a little bit, but I am hoping that the KG will cover it up. I will be doing the XD first because it's the lightest color, then I plan on doing the PT1911. The 1911 has so many parts and I'm using titanium gray on the slide and frame and black on the small parts.
