Default Colt lowers

So I'm sure this is something that been talked about extensivly but I'm looking for a cut and dry answer.
I have seen a bunch of older colt lowers w/ a larger screw for the front hold (infront of the magwell), is this interchangeable with current uppers or are you restricted to using older uppers with this lower? I seem to remember talk about a "big hole" vs the "little hole". I've found some decent deals on 9mm Colt's but they all have the "big hole" and if I cant change out the uppers then I have no desire to buy them.

Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Josh.

Lycn... I expect you know all about this and look forward to be elightented by your responce.

I'm glad you asked it, I have an SP-1 and have been wondering the same thing.

Easy fix.

Do a google under "offset front pivot pin" or "offset screw".

If you need a fast fix, see http://www.fulton-armory.com/M6Parts2.htm and scroll about half-way down to "Front Pivot Off-Set Pin f/Colt"

Correct. You can get an adaptor pin so the small hole uppers will work on the large hole Colt lowers.

On another note, a cheap Colt lower is still more expensive that a Stag, RRA, Mega........and certainly no better. Oly also makes a 9mm lower than takes the Glock mags, I believe.

Josh,

You can get the pins to adapt an older large hole lower to a new small hole upper from several places. DPMS, Brownells, Midway, Natchez, are several that come to mind among other places.
