Default What do you take to the range with you?

Delta and I have made two range trips now and I'm telling you we need wagons for all the 'gear' we take. Normally I have two range bags, one for rifle junk and one for pistol junk. Lately I've been lumping everything into one since we shoot handguns and rifles but can only carry so much.

So my question to the membership is what do you take to the range?

I only have a pistol that I carry in my pocket.

I have one bag, contents are: eye & ear protection, targets I print on my computer that help specialize my shooting, ammo and an extra mag, a roll of paper towels, a marking pen, a pack of gum and hand sanitizer. I also keep the plastic case that my Kahr CW9 came in with the manual in it. I like to keep it simple.

Lately I've been shooting revolvers and leaving the semi autos on the shelf. I usually take my S&W model 15 and 686. I usually stick with .38spl.

It makes me wonder if I should sell off a bunch of my excess pistols.. but I've been agonizing over which ones to sell and which ones to keep.

I haven't even touched any of my ARs in a couple of years.. they just sit in the closet collecting dust. .223 prices have gotten way out of hand.

I'm trying a new and improved strategy where every firearm gets it's own range bag where related items will stay with that firearm. Sure it's pathetic to buy all those staplers and multi tools but my old method sure isn't working. I might try to pack a huge, standard range bag along with individual firearm's range bags. I just recently threw away about 4 different model staplers..guess why?

I bring various weapons and ammo (depending on my mood) Usual setup looks like this:

Ruger P95DC 200 rounds WWB
Taurus PT-25 50 rounds UMC FMJ
Remington 760 30.06 165 Core-Lokt and 220 Core-Lokt
Savage .22 Big box `o bullets
Cleaning rod incase the .22 jams... Clean it real good, still keeps jamming, I don't know what it's problem is lol
NEF .410 with slugs and #6

Thats all I won and I take whatever depending on my mood at the time lol

Wow, judging by some of the replies I over pack.......

Here is what is in my current range bag (for rifle & pistol) as I take it all out:

Ear muffs- looped around the bag handle
Sharpie marker- clipped to one of the zippers
In the rear most pocket:
Stapler & staples
Paper targets...some already shot up
Small first aid kit
Surplus M16 cleaning kit
Package 1" target dots
Package 2" target dots
Lens cleaner
Benadryl
Glock owners manual
USPSA handbook
Blistex
Sun block
Hand sanitizer

Front pouch/compartment:

Hoppes gun oil (small bottle)
Hoppes powder solvent (small bottle)
Tetra gun grease (small tube)
Bug spray (small bottle)
Dry grip (small tube)
.22 cal bore snake
.30 cal bore snake
Glock cleaning rod
Some patches and other misc cleaning gear

Left end pouch:

Package of disposable ear plugs
Two small flat screwdrivers
Misc Glock replacement parts

Right end pouch:

Usually a bulk pack of .22 ammo or in todays case it was used to hold empty brass and enblock clips.

Main compartment:

Targets
2-3 ParaOrd mags
3-4 glock mags
3 browning .22 mags
3 10/22 mags if taken
3-5 empty chamber flags
A truck load of ammo
And I usually jam a pistol or two in there.
