Not enough- Cut the chamber, or re-barrel.
Too much- Re-barrel

Close

Bolt action:

Too little:
If close, Change bolts (crap shoot)
Rea chamber to Min HS

Too much:
If close, Change Bolts (crap shoot)
Adjust barrel shoulder on lathe to turn in barrel
On rifles with bbl mounted sights barrel barrel must be turned in one WHOLE turn, then re-headspace reamed.
OR - replace bbl and HS ream to min.

I believe the enfield's bolt is adjustable for headspace.

Many bolt-actions just require the barrel be turned back into the receiver a little. However it depends on the gun in question.

Some require turning the barrel on a lathe to push the mating shoulder forward to allow it to thread in further. Other will also require rechambering..

If the headspace is whacked, this is one of them jobs that most likely it will be best for a smith or an extreme experienced person to handle with the right equipment.

We dont want any more blown stocks, lacerated fingers and peppered faces like we've seen as of recent.

#4 rifles are indeed adjustable by swapping the interchangeable bolt heads.

Check the bolt head on your enfield. It should have a number stamped into it. You will want to pick up a new head with the next larger number on it then the one you have - ie - If you have a #2 stamped on the head, but a #3 head. They only go up to #4, so if you have a #4 head on your bolt....consult a gunsmith
