Default Asked to conceal at Army Navy in Whitehall.

I was up at said shop with the fiance earlier today just to brows at their guns. Their choice wasn't very varied() so I turn to leave and saw a rack of 5.11 tactical belts (nothing tactical about them, just a belt meant for holsters), so I grab one, then a "neat" pair of shoes catches my fiance's eyes.

So she goes and asked one of the young shoe department guys to check for her size and I take a seat on one of the benches in the shoe area. Then a guy approaches me and asked me very politely to conceal it. It caught me off guard at first (being a gun store and all).

Him: Excuse me sir could you conceal that please.

Me: I'm sorry, what did you say?(no sarcasm, just confused)

Him: I would like you to conceal that please, we have the guns in the back of the store for a reason.

(Me in my head: If you think guns scare people why have them at all? Anyhoo)

At this point, I did not want to embarrass my fiance and I really wanted that damn belt since my old one was crap. So...........

Me: Yeah I'll conceal it bud, you know it's legal right?

Him: Yeah I do, thank you.

So I concealed it, I had a T shirt on so it printed pretty bad but I did not care. Bought the belt and a shirt for the lovely lady and left, a little pissy.

I learned a few things then.

1.Army Navy does not like open carry, yet TCBY icecream, where I went afterwards, did not mind.

2. I had never been asked to cover it up, and It had caught me off guard. I did not handle it like I would have liked, and I am very pissed at myself.

3.My fiance was about to go "Well then we wont shop here any more, if he can't open carry", but she kept quite cause she knew I needed a new belt. Thus, I was shocked how adamantly she cared about me OC'ing, and I am freakin' glad I have got this girl. You could say she wears the pants around here(O well, my theory is if the girl wears the pants, you are the only one who can take them off)

So there it is, I know some of you will be not too happy with me for not standing up to him, and I apologize to you guys as well. I've been beating myself up about this. I will no longer go there, and will send them an email or something about it.

My belt rules though..........

While you may be a little 'pissy' over the incident it is private property and you did the right thing ... now we just add them to the 'list'

Like dc said. Take your money to a gun shop that actually supports the 2nd Amendment.

Geez. Another place where my money is no good. The sad part is that this place is literally 1 minute away from me.

No you made the right decision. It is privite property. Dont make a lick of sense but its thier right. Its best to comply. If people act irate then it will eventually lead to banning oc all together. Way to play it out.

you silly, silly man.

although, if you needed a good belt, i'm sure a Dickie's belt would have been good. i actually bought two good belts in Kmart, of all places. a Dickie's and a Wrangler; noth are pretty heavy duty, and hold the weight of a full size 1911 pretty well.

I carry a S&W 64 with 2 speedloaders and a buck 110 folder on my belt. But, I'll keep those brands in mind, I would like a second belt.
