Default Re: Whats the first gun you ever shot??

Started with the .22 (as most people did)

First real gun I shot was a marlin 30-30. lever action with both iron sights and a scope. Great little gun with low recoil, small and light, and super rugged.

It was either dad's K22 .22rf or Winchester model 250 22rf rifle when I was 3 or 4yo.

An old Remington Single Shot .22 with hammer. It only took longs and shorts, no long rifles!!! Older than dirt and was one may greatgrandfather used to shoot pigs so think turn of the 20th century. Keyholed like a son of a gun but hey when your 4 or 5 whats it matter I could hit the target at least.

Probably a Daisy BB gun (You'll shoot your eye out kid).

When one of the Boy Scout camps was at Tionesta in 1962, I got to shoot a .22 with birdshot at small clays.

A few years later, My dad bought a Rem nylon 66 which i used to sneak out with my buddy and go to the dump and shoot. I still have it.

I started with probably a 22. I was about 4-5 when my grandfather took me to the range with his Brother in law and nephew. They were visiting from germany so they did a lot of shooting when they were over here. I actually dont remember what i was shooting.

Other than that it was a few years ago the first gun i fired was the M249 SAW. Talk about being spoiled... I was at a FTX for the day with my ROTC class. Its too bad the program at berks got canceled after that semester...

Single shot 12 gauge shotgun in my buddy's backyard when we were about 12 yrs old. I remember it had a steel butt plate (no recoil pad) and the short little bugger kicked like a mule but we shot it until our shoulders felt like they would fall off.

Don't know what they were, but a photo of Grandpop turned up with two of them in the background. They looked like original civil war sharpshooter's rifles. Maybe it's better I don't know what he had.

Given that he was both a W.W.I & W.W.II vet + expert pistol rating, he must have owned a serious collection. His photo still hangs in the West Chester Gun Club meetinghouse, and is visible in one of their photos. First photo to the right of the guy in the green jacket.

Oh man I agree its probably best that you don't know. You would probably take the bridge haha just kidding. These are some really great stories, guys keep em up!!!

First gun i ever shot was not a 22 it was a marling 30-30 lever action with the iron sights and scope. I remeber it like it was last week it was the first time i was allowed to go to deer camp i was ten i went in the woods and sat with my dad. but i got to close to the gun and pulled the trigger and gavemyself a nice big shinner on my right eye. it was horrible when i got back to school my teacher asked me if my father beat me. I told her the whole story and the matter was never discussed again.

Probably the one of the Greatest days of my life!!!!
