hi i use a lasermax model lms-1141p in my glock 22. once installed, no modifications, about 10 minutes the first time. you will not know it is even in your gun until you turn it on. the pulsating beam is very intimidating. can be bought on ebay for aroun 274. just my opinion.

What will you use the laser for and what pistol do you own...because that will impact the recommendations.

Fulton is correct about the light/laser combo, BUT if you intend to carry your pistol, I wouldn't recommend the light/laser combo because you will need to buy a special holster to accomodate the light/laser. If it's for HD and it's a nightstand pistol...sure the light/laser may work for you.

I give a thumbs down for the Lasermax...because of where it is located. The laser replaces the factory guide rod and is located underneath the barrel. If you shoot a lot and you forget to clean the powder...the laser could be distorted. I owned a LasterMax on a Glock and it was alright. I found it to be way too expensive, plus the laser max uses 4 batteries (unless they changed the design).

The CTC are located in a area and the activation on the 401 models are well placed. Cost is on par with the Laser Max.

Just remember that anything that requires batteries can be a liability. Just keep Murphy's Law in mind when buying additional items for your weapon system.

I would say get some night sights first...lasers are alright, but they will give away your position. Spend $90 on night sights and with the remaining $210 buy ammo and train more. No laser or other gadget will help you shoot better, but buying more ammo and range time will help improve your shooting (hopefully).

FUNNY, when i clean my gun, a quick wipe with a alcohol pad cleans the lasermax good as new. i also have night sights, and guess what, i even know how to use them. the laser is just another option, and a great deterant. it does use four inexpensive watch batterys, that i replace once a year. fits in all holsters, no modifications to gun, easily removed if you want, and even easy to use. love mine, have them in all my glocks.

oh, and by the way, they only give away your position if you let them. there is an off and on switch. i guess that accessory light is invisible. and as far as a battery liability, the gun shots fine without the laser?

If the LaserMax works for your needs...great. Why get so defensive over it? Do you own the company or own stock in the company? I am merely stating my findings and experience with the LaserMax. In the end, it's the OPs money, so he/she can spend it however they want to...I am just providing information to the person, so they can make an educated decision.

Anyway, back on topic. Lasers can be adjusted, so if you decide to purchase the laser, I would suggest sighting it in at longer ranges. That way you can use your regular sights for close ranges and set the laser at 20 yards. POI will change with various distances, so keep that in mind.

LaserMax and Crimson Trace are two good manufacturers.

that was interesting. personaly, i have the lasermax in 4 different glocks. i have not had one problem with any of them, but i did have a bad red cap, and after calling lasermax they sent me 2 new caps and a slide lock spring and bar. they did not even ask for a serial number or any thing. they were great to work with and sent the items free overnight. i guess you can have a problem with any item.
