Ah yes... my screenname. Many moons ago when I was just starting to fly flight sims online I had to choose a "callsign" for a game. I tried a bunch of cool sounding names but they were all taken. The movie "Heartbreak Ridge" was on the tv at the time and at the beginning Gunny Highway has a great quote.

"Be advised that I'm mean nasty and tired. I eat concertina wire and piss napalm...."

So I typed in PissnNapalm and it accepted my screenname. I have since removed an "s" since some games only give ya 10 characters to use for a name.

It's been my screenname for almost 9 year now.

anyway... sorry for the subject deviation.

I suppose that a parent telling a young child that guns are bad isn't necessarily a bad thing in itself. It was just the way the kids said it that struck me I guess.

He said it so matter of factly like it was a given thing.

It is all part of what I call the pussification of America. Guns are bad, bad people will hurt me, and I can only depend on someone else to help me when the shit hits the fan. Kids don't fight anymore, and if they do, they get suspended from school, expelled from school etc. My elementary school defused any fights by sending us to our gym teacher who geared us up with a headgear and boxing gloves. One kid got the shit kicked out of him and the situation was over. We were taught to stick up for ourselves. Kids were given BB guns and firearms at a young age, and killed with them. Firearms were in many homes and looked at as tools for food and recreation. How many kids today can say that they shot .22 in the back yard at cans? Now kids are drilled with GUNS ARE BAD, GUNS ARE BAD, GUNS ARE BAD. God forbid my kids are ever involved in a situation like happened at Virginia Tech, but god damned if they aren't going to look at the kid next to them and say, "The next time this fuck goes to reload, we are going to slam him over the head with a desk". I don't want to train my kids to be urban warriors, but give them the mindset that when the situation warrants it, they need to have a warrior mentality. Fight back if it is your only option. The other option is a bad one. No one fights back any more. They sit back and hope someone will save them. Sorry, I am treading in dangerous territory where I would rather not step, but I think you get the gist of my rant.

I agree with about everything you said. Hell, I'll add to it. The social system of America today is full of self centered people that are sue happy. Ive heard of people that make a LIVING off of suing people. So what do we do to try to stop from being sued? We take way too many safety percautions to keep dumbasses from suing us. Mcdonalds has a warning on their cups because someone sued them because they didnt tell her that her coffe would be hot. What the fuck do you really expect? You didn't order an ice coffee did you? Even I'm afraid to get into a fight because if the other party calls the cops, I might never be able to own a gun again. If you tap someone in the back of their car, if they say you hurt their neck you owe them $15,000 in damages. Someone side swipes you and says you did it, well you might owe them 40k. Someone falls on your steps because a piece of cement broke off, well theres another 10k.

Schools call the cops every time ANYTHING violent happens. A friend of mine a long time ago pushed another kid that was messing with him into a wall. What happened? A 5 day suspension, cops called, and a $400 fine. Now what exactly will happen next time this boy is harassed in school? A simple push gave him a 400 dollar fine. He won't fight back like he should. If he would have spilled blood, a drop even, it would have been 800. They say "tell a teacher". They don't want the kids to defend for themselves; they want them to put all the trust they can into a higher official. This is the bullshit they teach kids nowadays.

This is true in just about anything you look at. Weather it be a security guard, politician, cops, or your boss, if you do don't try to seek their advise/help first, you're looked down upon or get a negative consequence. Gun owners generally stick up for themselves, so we're looked down upon as well. If someone attacks you in your car, if you shoot them you're wrong. You should have drove away and called the cops, no matter if you were stuck in traffic or not. You might get slapped with involuntary manslaughter even. People just don't trust other people to have the right judgement, the only people with the right judgement are themselves and the police. Everyone else is just retarded. Courts make sure of this.

Okay, sorry for the loooong ass post, I won't go on any further. I'm done ranting about my hatred of current American society

I might have said to the kid "than how are you gonna stop the murderer rapist about to stab your mother to death".

Wada you think, would that line do the trick?

These people that teach this kind of sh-t are NO different to me than those that say jews are bad, blacks are bad etc. I have NO SYMPATHY for this filth that promote this sh-t.

They should all burn in hell.

Crystal noch is coming but this time IT WILL BE DIFFERENT.

I picture him with the swirling psychodelic pinwheels in his eyes saying in a monotone voice..."gunsss are baaaad". Well son, I hope your old man is great with his baseball bat or golf club when someone breaks in your home.

I think you handled it the best way it could have been.

Mom quickly gathered her son and took off outta there.

Thoughts?

As stated on recent threads "Are we losing?" Sometimes I have to wonder who I'm fighting for. I'm fighting for my rights to be sure, but will future generations continue the struggle or is it going to end with my generation? Raising your children to be closed minded is the problem. Parents are suppose to raise their children to think and question so as they grow they have the moral character to make wise decisions and not just follow the herd. Clearly that is not happening.
Saying guns are bad vs. guns are dangerous is the difference. One implies a moral choice while the other implies respect, and questions which will be raised as the child matures. Raising a family takes more then black and white comparisons.

I think if that heppened to me I would be very tempted to say. No guns are dangerous your mom is just frightened.

Hmmm... my first thought was "no... CHILDREN are bad!"
(sorry, but the "criminals" who walk up the street after getting off the bus every day are really getting out of hand. - that's for another thread.)

That child has been lied to.
By his mother? By the School? By society? Who knows... most likely all of the above.

Not much you can do to un-do his brainwashing in 3 seconds... at least you spoke up. That's more than most would do these days.

I have a shirt with a picture of a Model 96 Swedish Mauser on it. One day while wearing it, I was in the Palmyra Wal-Mart. One of the associates (Young girl, late teens or very early twenties), walked past me and shook her head and said "Guns are bad". I proceeded to tell her (in less than 30 seconds), that some people are bad, objects can't decide for themselves how to act, and if she would ever find herself in a situation where she was the victim of violence she might have a slightly different view, maybe even wish that one of those "Bad" things would be available to use in a good way.
I probably didn't make a difference, guessing by the blank stare on her face as she walked away.

Thoughts?

A few years back I was at a local WW in CT. I was handling a Mini 14 that was handed to me by the clerk. A middle age women of about mid 30 (hot too) walked by and look at me and commented: "that is not nice at all". I said: "pardon me, not nice who, me or the rifle?" and I just laughed in her face. She gave me a dirty look and walked away.

BTW, when you go there and them folks want to fight you on the Joisey turnpike then just get outta car and fuggettaboutit, eh? he he he

(Man, these joisey jokes got tears in my eye........)
