No scolding, thank you for the enthusiastic support!
My goal with the PAFOA is to never have to ask for money, how realistic that is, only time will tell. The only time we've ever asked for money was for our initial fundraiser to pay for the lawyer to help us through our incorporation process and it went very very well. So well in fact that we have a decent amount of money left over for the future. I've made it a point to never ask for money, heck to even find our page about donating to the organization, you'd really have to look or know where it is. Beyond that, I am working on thinking up ways that the PAFOA can raise money without ever requiring a single cent from the average firearm owner. We'll see how that works out. In the end our stance on donations is this: I am confident that the PAFOA will do such a good job at helping to inform, educate, and support firearm owners that people will WANT to help support us as it is in their best interests. So far that has been the case, we will see if that ideal is sustainable as we grow.

Thanks danp for not yelling at me, I was actually kinda worried!
In my humble opinion, I think that the average Pennsylvania firearm owner whether on this forum or not, should highly consider supporting associations such as the PAFOA in any way they can. If you love something, and it consumes a lot of your time, and you're learning and getting educated on a wide range of topics in discussion, why not take the next step and give from your wallet. We shouldn't just be "on fire" about all the gun issues out there and talk/type until the cows come home, and not find it in our hearts to give monetarily. We give our money to other charities, organizations and associations, why not to this one? Last edited by dnar; May 31st, 2007 at 05:46 PM. Reason: edit text. |

Kidding aside, good that you contribute to what you stand for. PA is not my home state yet. My high skill lands me a job here in Philly and while looking for hip-hop clubs around Philly area on the net, then I saw this PAFOA site and joined. So far, it has been fun..........but base on my past experience, most sites banned people quickly. I would not tip my cards too soon, and keep them close to your chest as they said in the mafia movies, he he he....... I would donate but I would like to wait and see. Keep up the good works. 1FingrCHan |

We don't have many rules and we're generally pretty patient with people. You have to try very hard to get banned here.

I am also a supporting member...giving what I could toward the cause. NOW...I would like to throw something out there. Since H.B. 760 is more than likely going to die, I would propose that members who have not yet made a donation to the PAFOA and would like to do so, it would be an appropriate use of the $10 (or more if you can afford to do so) you would have had to pay for each of the guns you own. Since it is in large part to members of this organization that the we will not have to pay this fee (ie: tax) and deal with the illegal registry. Just throwing that out there.

Aww, c'mon... ban him, I dare ya! Just kidding 1FingrCHan! I DO understand what you meant about "waiting", but for me, the wait is over - I'm staying for a while. (sorry folks! )Regarding the donations... I can't imagine where I could find a resource this valuable for free. Go to the bookstore and buy a few books on firearms... adds up quick. The thing I've found MOST valuable is the new friends I've made that wouldn't have been possible without this forum. I've even had the opportunity to MEET and shoot with many of them. We don't all have the same views on EVERY subject, but if we treat each other with respect, I consider all of those I've met here and in person to be my friends. That "my friends" is PRICELESS. Guys, don't read into that "priceless" thing too much, I can't afford to pay each of you to be my friend!
