Default Little scare (sunday)

Sunday I was doing what I do every sunday. I go to my g/f's parents for dinner an sometimes go visit family that passed away. Well, on the way to the grave site we stopped at dollor general ( like we sometimes do) in Mt. holly for some fake flowers( they last forever ) While my g/f was in the Store, I was searching for my cell phone I lost in the car.

Out of nowhere this guy comes over an pushes me aginced the car, face first( Not real hard ) an I couldnt see who it was. An he said "give me your money." I had my hand on my grip, as I spun around an pushed him away with my weak arm he went back about 3 feet. Looking at him, I saw it was my uncle playing a joke on me. An the way it played out I didnt notice his voice, Nor did he know I was carrying. I explained to him I was armed an dont do that shit to me as it could have ended alot worse. As I could have spun around while pushing him, an drawing my firearm while pointing it directly into his face at point blank range....

If that wouldnt have been my uncle an some BG, He would have been looking down the barrol of my 9.But, no matter how much I practice drawing an shooting. It is nuthing like a accually emergency, as I learned there.. Sometimes you just arnt thinking about stuff like this...

Not to mention the sunday before, a car full of kids were being shady sitting in the parking lot. I went in the DG an a kid there buying baggys. Obviously they were Drug dealers in the car. An when I walked out they were just stairing at me, I could see them out of the corner of my eye.... The way things are now adays...

I had a scare last week (http://forum.pafoa.org/lounge-108/51...ed-out-me.html)
I took it as a learning experience and changed the way I do some things. Glad your Uncle was OK..ha ha. He doesn't realize how lucky he was.

Be safe.

It is important to know what and who your target is. Shooting at a silhouette in a dark room is a bad idea. Identify the target as a threat before engaging.
I know you know this...I'm just saying, this situation, to a trained carrier should a) maybe never happen...but if it does b) never result in you shooting a relative or friend..and you worked it out just fine.

Good job not capping Uncle Bill.

Nonsense like that is bad news. Even without a gun in the equation something bad could happen. What if another armed citizen or off duty cop saw it & reacted?? If you reacted with a back kick or back fist your uncle could have been hurt.

Hope uncle learned something here.

As you get more experience carrying you will need to learn how to mind your surroundings a bit better and pay closer attention to people in your immediate area.

Truth be told if that was a BG and he had a knife and he was already that close to you would be in for a world of hurt....and prob. wouldn't have enough time to even draw let alone get on target and make sure there are no innocents behind your target and fire, before you got stabbed 3-4 times. Do some reading on the "21 foot" rule as that is the amount of ground a person can cover before you would even be able to draw and fire accurately and safely.

Moral of the story.....mind your surroundings a bit better. And tell your uncle he could of got hurt real bad.

Oh I let him have it, he scared the hell out of me.

I could have pulled my firearm an had him at gun point in about 2 sec's concidering I had my hand on my gun already. But, If my uncle would have used force in pushing me aginced the car I prob. would have reacted much differently. Something told me it wasnt a real threat, by how he went about it. But then again, what if it was... now adays people rob/kill there own friends...

But true crakka I do need to mind whats around me better.

I am glade I had a feeling something wasnt right. An I am not to quick to draw on someone, or he could have got shot by me reacting off instinct. Then noticing who he was when it was a little late.

Some members of my family do that all the time Scary/spooking each other. Bet you he wouldnt do that to me again.

No joke. I broke my brothers nose one day when he jumped out at me from around a corner, lesson learned, don't screw around. My fist was there before my brain registered the threat.

The sound of an assisted knife opening @ 11pm at an ATM is something that I can still clearly remember. I generally make it a habit to avoid doing that anymore but sometimes it can't be helped...raises your awareness a lot after something like that happens.

At the risk of sounding like an asshole, you screwed up. If you could have drawn pulled your pistol you would have. This should serve as a wake up call as to how you would react in the event of real threat. You that you need to train and be ready for the real thing, and never let down your guard. I'm glad you didn't shoot your uncle.
